Xbox Live Enforcement & Complaints

Hello Xbox live people,

I've very recently had a situation occour with Xbox live which has left me disenchanted with the service and the procedures in place to deal with issues to & from Xbox live.

My 13 year old Gold account which has had the same gamertag for its whole lifespan received a "takedown" following a complaint for a profane gamertag
[Mod Removed], the first indication of this to me was my gamertag automatically and abruptly being randomly reassigned to what it is now with an automated email from the enforcement team notifying me of the action.

I have had many dealings with Xbox in the past over warranties on the previous 360 console & other harmless profile issues ect. over the years, I never received any complaint, notice or warning over my gamertag for it being profane and would've understood
if I was approached in a formal and respectful manner if there was ever an issue/complaint so I could deal with it in a civilised manner. However this didn't happen and I have been put through a demeaning, frustrating & disillusioning process of dealing with
Xbox live "enforcement". First off, to object a charge against your account you have to fill out a childish questionnaire to even have the one single opportunity of asking questions about having your case reviewed, to which soon after I had the door slammed
in my face with the case firmly sealed & no other opportunity to question the matter, with a standard & souless copy and paste reply to the query, which in this case resulted in failure.

Seeing as you also can't call Xbox live to query your "enforcement team" matters this is now my one and only hope of being treated civily and not like some sort of criminal for something which had seemingly been fine for over 13 years.

My gamertag has been changed to what it is now and I'm expected to pay to change it to something else, which is further humiliation. On top of that if I were to possibly choose a gamertag which is non-offensive now but possibly offensive in 13 years time,
I could be back dealing with the same ugly situation.

Please understand I have enjoyed my time gaming on your consoles and other systems; I've loved my time with Gears of War, Halo, Forza, Shadowrun & Crackdown and play games online regularly and politely(although without a mic at the moment). I've played dozens
more games and have as many saves and friends linked to my Xbox live account. This experience has made me feel completely disillusioned with your service which I have sunk money and years of my life into.

If anyone can offer advice on if I can call support about this issue so I don't incur further punishment for even inquiring into this matter or any other advice relating to it I would appreciate very much.

Support. Support is only for Account problems/ issues, not Policy Enforcement.

If someone is violating the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct all that needs to be done is File a Complaint. That complaint goes to the Xbox LIVE Policy Enforcement Team and they view the accuracy of the complaint. If it is true and valid, the XBL PET will take
the appropriate action. There is no other method to contact the XBL PET for Filing complaints.

Also file a complaint via your xbox. That is the avenue that the Policy Enforcement Team accepts complaints about other users on live. And it's the ONLY avenue.

You do not need to "keep it". Simply File a Complaint/ Block Communications and move on. The Message (or Messages) are "forwarded" when you File a Complaint. That is what the Complaint System does, it "forwards" directly from
your Xbox LIVE Profile to the Xbox LIVE Policy Enforcement Team.

Thank you for seeing that Randy, I'd have hated for this to turn into an ugly argument of a thread.

And I'm genuinely sorry if people are or were actually offended by my gamertag. I'll be as open as you like about it and learn from the experience. But the way this has come about leaves me uncomfortable dealing with Xbox enforcement processes in particular
and how they could work/swing from smaller and more innocuous situations than this in future, especially when it comes down to & encourages a financial fix to this problem while defacing a profile which has been quite precious to me since childhood.

Also sorry for being whiny and getting everyone to read massive posts on this matter, I'm sure it's not all that interesting to everyone. I'll try and get it dealt with respectfully but I don't want to endure this side of Xbox live in this manner ever again,
just good games and fun from now please.

To go back to what Mistress Sara said, this would be something to bring up on the Xbox One subreddit. Acknowledging that Enforcement has a reason for patrolling gamertags that may be offensive, while recognizing that as society evolves, some things that
were deemed acceptable at one point are no longer. That a gamertag that wasn't offensive, now, through no fault of the account owner, is considered offensive, and that the owner should be given a chance to change their tag without penalty. I think that would
be a reasonable compromise, and one that separates long-standing gamertags from those who create something offensive now.
