Xbox LIVE download speed

Xbox, I'm getting really sick of you not being ready for busy times like E3 week. With my internet speed the Halo Wars Beta should have only taken an hour, IT TOOK OVER 8 HOURS. Tekken 2 should have only taken an hour, IT TOOK OVER 8 HOURS. I'm now installing
The Crew. That should have only taken about 1 1/2 hours. IT'S BEEN TWO HOURS SINCE I'VE STARTED AND IT'S ONLY AT 12%.

Either fix my downloading speed real quick like or I'm about to switch to Sony.

You're NEVER ready for E3 week! You're NEVER ready for holiday season.

Whomever is in charge of that stuff needs to be FIRED!

I'll give you a couple days to get it fixed, or I'm switching to Sony.

1. Changing your DNS can improve your download speed but it is not simply because you changed DNS. What happens is if your ISP DNS is bad it can resolve you to node that is not well suited for what you are trying to do. If your ISP DNS is not good this can improve your download speeds.
2. As it is more likely you hit the Xbox live download cap vs Dns issues. Depending on load the Xbox live server can limit your download speed.
3. As Indie stated there is a chance that you had ERA's(exclusive resource apps) running and that will limit your download speed.
4. Changing your DNS to google or Open DNS opens you up to information collection by google for selling to ad companies. At 1 point Cloud fare was offering free dns with a privacy policy.

You do realize no one from Microsoft reads this form right?

Also it's not necessarily Microsoft. I downloaded The Crew today in less than an hour while downloading another game on my 360.

 

Then you got lucky. I posted at IGN about my issue and I immediately got a response from someone saying he's downloading Life is Strange Episode 3, which is LESS than 4 GB's and it's been installing for over two hours.

 

I am sure Sony NEVER has any issues. You should probably go on and switch today. However, before you do you might want to check you network to see if something is going on with it.

 

i agree and disagree with the original post. Yes, i believe microsoft should do some work on making sure the data transfer rates from the servers remain optimal, and making sure every region is synced to the correct servers. HOWEVER, yelling at them and
throwing a fit wont help. i have the same problem. i spent 3 days with xbox support only to have actually lost progress not gained and have spent the last 12 hours waiting for a download to finish and its only at 23%. i have also contacted my ISP, which is
what u should do. if neither group can help then tough luck buddy. im stuck with terrible internet and if it takes ten days to download a game or 2 days for a measely 7 GB update, if i want to play it ill have to suffer. Sonys way worse than us trust me i
have a ps3 and ps4 as well. even worse. drop offs and disconnects religiously. stay frosty. *** the casket grab a coffin

 

Take the money you want to throw at Sony and put it towards a decent ISP. Just a thought...
