Xbox live down again

When XBL is down, I sit in the corner, in the fetal position and rock, while singing "Ain't No Sunshine (when she's gone)". LOL I'm... just... kidding. No, really...

 

I see people are having trouble signing into PSN right now and i am on XBL as we speak my brother isnt impressed

 

I should make a log of how many times xbox live core services for xbox 360 and xbox 1 go down, but id probably need a 2B5 exercise book for that a year, just kidding. I can just watch videos and movies or play minecraft pocket edition.

 

I don't know if it's been discussed yet as I haven't taken the time to read the entire thread, but the reason that we're having more issues connecting to XBL on the One over the 360 is because XBL on the One and XBL on the 360 are NOT the same. They are
2 completely different setups, that are in some ways integrated, but are otherwise not the same thing - XBL on the One is newer with newer software/hardware (just like the console itself) and is therefore prone to more problems. I know this because it was
briefly mentioned in an interview with XBL developers months and months ago (I don't recall where though, so good luck finding it). Like with the games, it's simply a matter of time before they get used to it and figure things out - ironing out the kinks as
they say. You have to remember that every time XBL goes down, they work very hard to fix it, and log EVERYTHING so if something similar happens again in the future, they'll be ready for it - they even have a clock on the wall inside the beating heart of XBL
(a massive room full of a bunch of technical engineers, analysts, etc.) that starts counting up when something goes wrong so they know exactly how long they've taken. This was something else that was also said in an interview. As a consumer, I realize that
it basically sucks not being able to connect to XBL whenever and wherever you want to, but you also have to remember that when it does go down that it's in some of the most capable hands it could possibly be in, the world over. So if and when it does happen
(which should become a rarer occurrence over time), don't panic. Just ask yourself what else you can do in the meantime - and from the looks of it, some of you already know what you're going to do.

 

@GG - I am one who does not like to over react and accept that mistake can happen and maintenance etc needs to happen. But there comes a point, when it is the failing companies responsibility to step up and keep their customers informed. For myself all
I am after is regular updates and a level of contrition (if applicable). The fact you are able to provide us with this info abut their practices and how hard they are working etc, is great, but begs the question, "why is this not coming from Microsoft themselves"
- indeed, why is the level of effort you say is being done in the background, not reflected in their Issue management communication processes?

 

I must be lucky as all these constant Live "downs" seem to miss me. Only time I havent been able to get on for as long as I can remember was Xmas.

 

Its not just the online thing, not being able to see friends is just as annoying as not being able to get online. Cant join a party or a game etc.

I am mostly a social gamer so no online/friends is a big issue for me.

As for what i can do in the meantime??? I dunno what im supposed to do at midnight when everyone is asleep and i just wanna play a few games b4 bed? My gaming time is limited so i like things to work when i get on.

 

I don't have this online prob., is it possible I'm getting all the bandwidth from all of you?...lol. I don't get your probs, unless ur ISP is slo...

 

I forget that because it works for YOU it must work for EVERYONE (see how those words in caps are not the same). FFS Xbox defence force need to realise that live is broken. Maybe not for you but its still broken.

Same here Genchy. 90% of the RED Xbox Live service alerts miss me also. I was even able to log into Xbox Live several times and play online on Christmas Day.

I will say this though. Constantly seeing a RED service alert is annoying. Although they hardly affect me

Oh, so if the ISP can't handle it, it's the customer's fault? That's some convoluted thinking there... Take me for example. Due to where I live, I have access to only 1 ISP and their best service that is available to me right now is only 6mbps down and 1mbps
up. I've complained numerous times and asked for upgrades and all they've done is turned a blind eye because they know there is no other ISP for me to turn to and that I'm not willing to give up my online connection. Sadly, I also lack the means and the finances
to move to a better area. And here you have the nerve to tell me that it's my fault!? (mod removed)

 

OMG STUD that was so funny you win the internetz. Im going to cry to my ISP about my 60meg connection not being good enough for live to run (even tho all other services are) you are amazing

 

For those who say it's our ISP's fault, just ignore those peps. My so called not-up-to-it ISP Spark NZ which is one of two top Telco companies in NZ, can load friends messages and achievements faster on my slim 250gig Xbox 360 console' Dashboard compared
to my Xbox 1 console Dashboard. Geek is correct, he actually has a gamertag which best describes him. Xbox 1 uses new Xbox Live Servers and technology (300,000+ servers worldwide in different countries). Xbox 360 has only 15,000 servers worldwide. I'm logged
on my 360 console did a test and the test came out with all green ticks. This site is up, and Xbox 360 Smart Glass and Xbox 1 Smart Glass are good to go. Since Xbox 1 has newer technology compared to 360, though it's suppose to be better than 360, it's still
has some more ironing and getting use to.

 

I've never once had an issue starting or joining a party, occasionally I get the cant show friends error message but I find if I switch view from the Friends section it sorts itself out pronto. Not had any major chat issues either, When I did have issues
i found that making sure I plugged my comms lead into the controller prior to joining or starting a party permanently fixed that issue (is you start or join a party without comms plugged in then often it wont recognise comms) The only comms issues I have
had lately is speaking to Boas and that was because he wasn't used to his headset.

Also no one on my FL who i regularly play with (apart from Boas LOL!) has these issues or have suffered these issues, I'm not saying they don't happen to some but I don't believe they are as widespread as people like to make out.
