Xbox Live disconnects after 5 minutes...

Appreciate if you can run a traceroute on your Xbox 360.

As soon as your console get disconnected from Xbox Live, go to Xbox Network settings and select your connection type (wired) and press the following combo on your controller:

LT RT RT LT RB LB

Select tracert.xbox.com

Post up the result from this traceroute.

 

I connected it directly to the Genexis and played for more than an hour, so the connection is steady without problems when connected directly... Seems to be a router issue then...

I'll do a traceroute later today and will post the results.

 

You don't have to do the traceroute on your console, as it seems to be isolated to your router NAT, and to be more specific, Ethernet.

I know this may sound a bit odd, but can you visit the Asus website and download an earlier version of firmware for your ASUS RT-AC66u and downgrade your routers firmware to this version instead.

Also make sure to use a different LAN port on your router to connect your console to.

Well, I did another full reset on the router, put my netgear GS105 switch between the router and the XBox, configured the router with teh XBox on the same static IP, UPNP enabled, the XBOx in the DMZ an lo and behold the connection has been steady for about
an hour now without disconnecting once...

This is truly weird, I've reset the router about 10 times and with the exact same configs the only difference now is that I connected a switch from the router to my TV, Blu-Ray player and XBox and everything works perfectly now :-| i don't get it... I'll
be back if the connection drops again...

 

You shouldn't have configure DMZ with your Xbox One, as this ASUS router should work properly with just having UPnP enabled and the consoles network settings set to obtain IP information from the DHCP server.

I find it a bit odd that a layer 2 device (netgear GS105) would have a positive impact to your situation, as this device can only make decisions based on the physical addresses (MAC address).

 

I don't have an xBox One, just an xBox 360... I don't get it either why it seems to work with the switch (it's not even a managed one...) but I'm not going to tinker with it anymore, I'm just glad everything works again...
