    Xbox Live disconnection issue...out of options!


    I keep being disconnected from Xbox live

    I can log into Xbox live, leave the console at the Xbox home page, no game running, and it will randomly disconnect. This problem only started happening about two months ago. Before that it worked fine.

    I am running out of options, so far i have tried the following but none of it helps:

    - Setup port forwarding

    - Re-downloaded my profile

    - Deleted and re-downloaded my profile

    - Cleared the cache....three times in a row

    - Cycled the Xbox off/on

    - Cycled my router off/on

    - Replaced network cables with brand new Cat6 ethernet cables

    FYI, I work in IT and am tech savvy. Microsoft probably has a log somewhere that tells them why i got disconnected. That information would be a great help to diagnosing this issue. The only thing i haven't done is replace my router or replace my xbox 360.

    as for my issue i am having disconnection issuses after a xbox live update as i just entered the xbox live beta preview update program update i just had

    every game i start up its signing me out of live and when i exit game signs me out of live

    i try sign in tells me to add security email password i do that i get error code n stops me from connecting bk plus im having party disconnection issues i have xbox 360 slim

  3. Xbox games not loading

    I have no idea. Normally I'd suggest a hard reset, disconnecting from power for a minute or so and then powering back on. But where you already did a factory reset that is kind of the nuclear option.

    That leads me to believe it is more of an Xbox Live or account issue. I'd recommend talking to MS support they are generally really good for sorting out issues you have. I generally use chat support if I'm having an issue and haven't had a bad experience yet.

    If you do get a solution please drop by and let us know what the issue was/ what fixed it. Would be curious to know in case someone has that issue again.

    That service request doesn't sound like what i am experiencing. Xbox live works well when i log in. I can see all the ads and trailers for Destiny on the Xbox home page. Its just that at a random time i will get disconnected from xbox live.

    I should point out that this hasn't always happened to me but has been going on for about two months. Some days it might not happen. Other days it will happen every few minutes.

    So it looks like the service request has been fixed. Do you now have any suggestions on fixing my issue. Its still happening. I can log into Xbox live and by the time my xbox has gotten to the xbox home page it has logged me out again. I just tried re-downloading
    my profile, clearing the cache three times and turning the console off and on again but still no joy.....when do i have to sacrifice a goat to the dark one to get this problem to go away?

    When you're being signed out, do you receive an error code? If so, what's the error code you're getting?

    Appreciate if you can post up the make and model of your router and modem as well (if this is not a single device).

    Go to Xbox Network Settings and select Configure Network. Select The Additional settings tab and Restore network settings to factory defaults. Press "B" on your controller and select Test Xbox Live Connection.

    Try delete a portion of the current system update, installed on your console and let's try with a fresh update.

    To do so:

    Turn off your console. Press and hold the sync button (the small one you use to connect your wireless controllers). While holding press the power button to turn your console on. Continue to hold the sync button until the console is completely booted up.

    Go to System Settings and select storage.

    On your controller, press the following button sequence:

    Press the left bumper.

    Press the right bumper.

    Press the X button.

    Press the left bumper.

    Press the right bumper.

    Press the X button.

    Restart your console and apply the system update.

    Post back and let us know how that goes and we'll go from there.

    Thank for persisting with this one Taidara

    I deleted the xbox update and was trying to download the update again when it said "Update Failed". Cant download the update, open System Settings and select network settings, test xbox live connection. Status code 4174-0000-3080-050C-8007-2AF9

    I started downloading the update again, this time it worked fine. Running a test to see if it dropps out now.....Nup...took about 5 mins before i got logged out of xbox live

    My router is a Netgear DG834PN RangeMax

    Running firmware V1.03.39

    Ok! So when running the diagnostic test (discover & diagnose end-user NAT behaviour) you were able to update the system, but you're still being diconnected from Live. Hmmmm.

    Let's try with a couple of steps, to see where that leads us, to begin with.

    If you haven't already, start with the following steps:

    Go to Xbox Network settings and select Configure Network. Select the Additional settings tab and Restore network settings to factory defaults (to issue new IP configuration from the DHCP server).

    Turn off your console.

    Reset your Netgear gateway to factory settings.

    Make sure UPnP is ticked enable and leave Port Forwarding, Port Triggering and DMZ disabled.

    Turn on your console and do what you normally do and let me know how that goes.

    OK, so i have reset the xbox to factory defaults

    I have reset the netgear modem to factory defaults

    I have entered just enough info into the router to connect back to my ISP. UPnP is on the other settings you mentioned previously are off (by default).

    Still getting logged out of xbox live randomly.

    Is there any loggs at your end that say why an account disconnected?

    I will call my ISP and see if they have any information but i expect them to tell me there is no problem with the ADSL2+ service...as usual.

    What next?

    OK, so here is another update.

    I just discovered that if i log into Xbox live and run a line speed test from my ISP that hammers the line with upload packets, that almost immediately i am logged out of xbox live.

    Considering that when i log into Xbox live and just leave the xbox sitting idle at the home page long enough, it will also log out of xbox live (after a random number of minutes)...should i consider that my line or router is dropping packets?

    Does the xbox send a keep alive packet to the xbox live servers on a regular basis? If this keep alive packet didn't make it would that cause my xbox live to be disconnected?

    Just talked to my isp and the line is fine, disconnected my home phone which was going through a line filter and connected my modem directly to the home phone line, reset xbox and modem. Logged in to xbox live........waited.......and got logged out after
    about 3 minutes.

    ISP said they can see some errors coming from the modem, so it might be a faulty modem....Unless Support has any other suggestions i might have to try a new modem?

    Solution Found: So this turned out to be a dying router.

    The router worked well enough for normal internet activities but for xbox live gaming it seems it was dropping too many packets to keep the connection alive.

    I have replaced the router (it was about 6 years old) and i haven't had a single dropout since.
