Xbox Live Disconnecting Every 5 Minutes

Whenever I log onto my Xbox live account, everything works fine, even when I start playing a game, everything is fine, but once I turn on multiplayer, I get logged out of Xbox live 5 minutes into whatever I may have been doing. This happens the most in the
games GTA V and CoD BO2.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your connection.

• Have you tried resetting your network hardware?

I would also recommend restoring your console to Factory Defaults using these steps:

• Press the Guide button on your controller, select Settings, and select System Settings.
  
• Select Network Settings.
• Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network when the network list is displayed.
  
• Select Configure Network.
• On the Additional Settings tab, select Restore to Factory Defaults.
  
• When prompted, select Yes, Restore to Factory Defaults.
  

1. • Note This resets the console's network settings only, and not other settings.
     

• Turn off your console.
• Turn on your console.

1. • Wireless only: You will receive a message to configure wireless settings. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your wireless network.

Disconnecting Xbox Live every 5 minutes

How are you disconnected? Are you thrown out of a multiplayer session, or do you get a "Disconnected from Xbox Live" Toast pop up?

How is your console connected to your home network? Wirelessly or with a LAN ethernet cable? What network hardware (router and/or modem)?

Can you also do the following test:

Before you go online to play a game, start up your PC and open a command prompt (on Windows press "Windowskey+R", then type "cmd" in the window and press OK. If you use Linux or MacOS, simply open a Terminal window).

In the command prompt/terminal window type the following command:

ping www.google.com -t

(if you use Linux or MacOS omit the -t option).

You should get a long list with replies and numbers.

Now play your game on the Xbox.

As soon as you get disconnected, look at your PC. Did the output of the window change? Did the numbers significantly change? Or did the output change altogether?

Please answer these questions so we can try to help you further with the issue.

If you are getting an 8 digit error code when your profile disconnects, please post it as we need it to help.

In the meantime please try deleting your profile only (not Profile and Items) then restart the console and redownload your profile by going to Social>Sign In/Out>Download
