Xbox Live Crushes You Know Who.

PlayStation will have exactly the same behaviour. I guess older peeps can't tolerate younger peeps. It's a Partay. I get lots of messages voice and text, and I'm in parties everyday. I don't really like the fowl mouths, all my friends say I'm nice, but I'm
happy to play music in the background and for others to as well (usually), otherwise the party ends up being boring or too seriously and this party etiquette stuff. As soon as I saw that post on this forum, I cracked up inside me. And it's not Elmo/Barney
songs, we usually listen to pop, the crying baby in the background sometimes, or the dog barking. They don't call it Xbox Live for nothing. It's a place to have fun and be social/online stuff. I'm sure everyone here could easily find people who are more like
them to play with. I use to play the wiggles "do the monkey" with one of my friends and she says "oh no" only because her younger sister likes it, and I use to like it when I was younger. I use to play this youtube video minecraft house tutorial by this guy
who has a deep and kind of serious voice. One of my best friends played it and when she did, I cracked up so hard and have been playing it a lot of the time when she comes online. But I've eased off on it since this year. Parties can be a fun side of Xbox
Live playing with friends and staying up late on weekends.

As for party while muting lobby, yeah I've tried it a few times, especially in Halo 4, Overwatch and some other games, saves individually muting every person on the fly.

But in terms of social features, Xbox Live is the best console service. Xbox 360 is the only 7th gen console which has party (and avatars), PS3 didn't. It is also why I got Xbox. While the graphics may look better with the competition, when I was choosing
between Xbox and PS late 2010, a lot of people said go for Xbox because it has Xbox Live Party. Sony then copied Microsoft's idea and now they have a party chat on their 8th gen console.

Sure you will run into people you won't get along with. But you have to admit, the features Microsoft put into Xbox 360 and Xbox 1, compared with the competition, it's no wonder why Xbox Live does indeed, crush you know who.

 

I totally agree with what some have said, the party chat feature is the best thing to have happened on both XBL/PSN.

I bet most here have met their fare share of the online gangsters that either tell you what their going to do to you, scream when they lose at a game or have some weird fascination with my mum :-/

So it wasn't party chat that killed online, it was these idiots

Funny thing is though I personally find it different on various games. I play Forza online in the no collision lobbies and overall the community is brilliant. My experience on most online shooters is totally the opposite. I honestly think when it comes to
games with online leaderboards, K/D ratios etc people get too serious about it all and that's when their nasty side tends to show its ugly face.

 

@smileskybird: I know it's not politically correct to defend the opposition while taking a pro-Xbox stance, but historically speaking the PlayStation service did deliver a fully realized hub world where you could live vicariously though your onscreen avatar
- in fact, the hub world evolved into a commercial district where each Wednesday, during routine maintenance, the shops would be updated and you could spend a BUNDLE on new clothes and accessories for your 3D avatar!

Not only that, but during the six years we were privileged to inhabit our VIRTUAL HOME, there were many magical moments and memories created. There were even AR (Alternate Reality) games that integrated RL landmarks long before Pokemon Go became a thing.
Plus, in Home's social spaces you could have dance offs, transform into LMO's (Locomotive Objects) and best of all - FEED THE TROLLS in real time (while simultaneously muting the s** pests lmao).

 

^ Yeah Home was great on PS3, there was a lot of crap in there but some very good stuff too, used to love watching the Sony e3 conferences in there.

 

Azreal, I found that pretty funny as I remember trying to work this out myself. You should be able to get a 14 day trial on psn+ if it's your 1st time.

I find XBL safer though with that said I've never had my account hacked on psn and have on the 360. I still find XBL safer as Sony seems to ignore issues imo.

 

As someone that has always played on both services, the voice chat and download speeds are far and away better on live. Party chat ipsounds good on PSN, but man game chat sounds like people are talking through tin cans and string sometimes. Tons of static
and random beeps. Also, this gem it seems a majority of the vagrants have shifted over to PSN. I play COD on both and PSN has been horrible in that regard this gen. Far, far worse than its been in the past.

Without wanting to get into stats and figures but it's well known the PS4 at this moment has sold a lot more than the XB1 so obviously there's a lot more players on PSN playing games like COD so unfortunately along with the good you also get the bad. I wouldn't
blame the PS4/PSN for the vagrants as you put it ;-)

 

Sony did add a two step authentication process to make things more secure, something that I think should be offered on all platforms.

 

I still prefer Xbox and am happy with the choice I made in 2010. One of the fundamental things was Party Chat, and the UI. The way they incorporated it was unique (on Xbox 360 since to my knowledge, PS3 doesn't have party chat). Also Minecraft Xbox 360 came
out in early/mid 2012 where as on PS3 it didn't come out until what, late 2013 LOL.

And because of the UI. Microsoft has experience with making software and OS which runs on most PC's out there today. And they own Skype and acquired Minecraft and Xbox Play Anywhere and smartglass and windows 10 and the Xbox app. When I joined late 2010,
I was deciding on the two. Sony's registration page wasn't even secure at the time (didn't have https or padlock on address bar in IE). But come here, the address bar is highlighted green with https on IE. And Xbox has Security Proofs too, where if the system
recognizes something suspicious, Microsoft sends a verification code to your phone! or one of your email addresses you've given them. Xbox has Kinect too which I really like. I use to have a PS2 before getting Xbox, but I got it second hand and I only had
it for 2 weeks. But when I was choosing between, a lot of people were saying 'get Xbox 360 - it has party chat'. And we can see our avatars in party chat on Xbox 360 too. I just like the way Microsoft designed their Xbox Features including Party Chat.
