  1. Xbox Live content refuses to load over MS wireless N adapter

I normally have my Xbox 360 wired to a wireless bridge that goes to my Netgear WNDR4500 router. Everything works fine.

I want to use the bridge for another device so I picked up the MS wireless N adapter.

Now I can log into Xbox Live, see what friends are on and such, but the Dashboard never shows any content (always comes back 80072741 after a long delay) and none of the network based apps, like Netflix, work.

I've already been through the default wastes of time like
    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/xbox-live/error-code-80072741
and deleting every item under System Items. Cloud storage is disabled currently. Already returned the first adapter, so on my second one now. Unlikely to be a HW issue unless they are
    all defective.

If I power off the 360, unplug the wireless adapter, plug back in the Ethernet cable to the wireless bridge, 360 comes up quickly and Dashboard works perfectly.

Bottom line, everything is fine with the same Xbox 360 and same wireless router, so long as the Xbox uses the Ethernet port and not the USB port. Like the 360 is *** up and can use the wireless NIC for command but is somehow hardcoded to only the wired
    NIC for content.

Considering the dysfunction, and the long delay in system startup and shutdown when the wireless adapter is attached, I'm ready to just return and forget about MS wireless, but figure I'll post and see if anyone has run into something similar.

    Thanks.

    :)

    which wireless adapter?

I have a pro xbox 360 so I will need a wireless adapter to connect to xbox live.

My router is set to b/g/n mixed mode, so will I need the normal wireless adapter of the wireless N adapter?

    Thanks

  3. New Internet Connection Won't Wirelessly Connect Online With Xbox

Alright so I had to do some research, I found out your new Virgin Media Super Hub works Wireless with 802.11a,b,g,and n capable in 2.4GHz band plus wireless N in 5GHz band and the Xbox 360 Wireless G Networking Adapter you have it should work just not with
802.11n. So I would say try upgrading your Wireless Network Adapter to the newest "Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter" and then try connecting online to Xbox Live.

[/quote]Were you ever considering to use a layer 2 switch, to extend the ports for your wireless access point?

  5. I already used a switch, but that's two more Ethernet cables and a power outlet tied up.

I reorganized things to use ICS on a PC between the wireless modem (just an AP at that point) and the modem so I could try and wireshark the exchange to see where things stopped working vs the working exchange. But in that config, the wireless-N equipped
360 loaded the dashboard fine. Put things back to normal and now the wireless-N equipped 360 is still loading the dashboard fine. Typical MS. I assume whatever was stuck in the 360's brain with the WNDR4500 DHCP/NAT/PPoE/whatever got unstuck when I used
the 4500 solely as an AP and used Win 7 ICS as the DHCP/NAT and the PC as the PPoE client. And now unbroke, is working fine even back in the original config.

Whatever. No way whatever was wrong could be definitely determined considering the 360 has zero useful logging for such situations. Not sure I'll stick with the wireless adapter. The 5-port switch is less than half the price, and it doesn't cause the
360 to be slow to power up and really slow (extra 10-12 seconds) to power down versus when the wireless adapter is attached.

Xbox won't connect through cell phone WIFI hot spot

    Greetings!

Just to clearify one thing. For example, the internal wireless N network adapter do not have the same chip, nor the same driver as the external wireless N network adapter. So basically, you can not compare these two with each other. There are cases which the
internal N adapter can not connect to certain wireless gateway's where the external N adapter can without any issues. In such cases, the wireless gateway's firmware are not compatible with the internal wireless N adapter. The first thing one should do is try
to update the router's firmware (if this is possible).

Do you still have the external wireless network adapter?
