Xbox Live connection

Hey Guys,

i have been having trouble with my xbox live account connection for around 4 weeks now ever since i moved into my new spot. Comcast is my provider, i have the router that is provided for when you sign up for internet and tv that is established downstairs
in the living room.

My room is on the second floor and having a lot of lag issues for when i try to do anything and its becoming unbearable.

It takes games to install wayyy too long.

Is there something im missing with this comcast router? Should i go to the settings of the router and change something there for better connection?

There is no button or menu to connect!

The system is not connected, I do a network test and it passes, but still is not connected... I can't do anything with the X1 if it's not connected to live!

Is there a way to manually connect to Xbox live in this console?

 

it says my NAT is open, but i just dont believe it, and my connection speed also changes drastically.

I also checked and i saw last night that my wireless strength was @ 70%. is that good?

 

I hate is issued router's for gaming , they are the worst and not xbox friendly....you could move it closer and try a wired connection and see if that helps.....or get your own router and put theirs in bridge mode. ..

 

oh okay, do you recommend buying a router? if so what one would be the best ?

 

Be nice if you could borrow one , or get one where you could return it if it dosent help....first I would just move it closer and try that, or try a wired connection...imo , Netgear is the most xbox friendly...

 

i might just buy a 50ft ethernet cord and have a wired connection, yeah that could definitely work

 

My advice - try a gigabit enabled ethernet powerline adapter(Netgear Powerline 1200) and connect to your router via a wired connection. It can help you keep cables out of sight while still giving you the highest internal network bandwidth. Wireless for
gaming can get interference. I see it happen all the time to my friend. He has an 88% signal strength and you can notice when something gets between the xbox and the wireless router (Netgeat R6300 AC1750). That few ms of lag can cause some major problems.
I have my xbox wired and rarely get lag.

Other Options to Check:

Cabem Modem Speed VS Internet Package Limits -

Even if you lease the cable modem from the ISP, it should be able to do the job of matching your internet package. If it doesn't, then tell them you need an upgrade from them to get the most out of your connection.

Cable Modem Check -

Check your cable modems signal to noise ratio, uncorrected codewords, and power levels. Your ISP support should be able to help you identify if your coax cable quality to your modem sucks. Your router and wireless may be fine, but if the coax to the modem
is damaged or has too many splitters it will degrade your speed.

Router Check - Make sure your router port speeds match your internet capability. Don't have a 200mbps connection to your modem and try to use a router that only has 100mbps port speeds. That is madness. Most modern routers have dual band wireless and gigabit
ethernet ports.
