  1. Xbox live connection terrible

Not sure if this is the correct place for this but couldn't find any where better.

So here I am playing xbox live with my buddies, everything is fine, and then suddenly (no major changes occurred to any hardware, my 360 did have a software update about a month before but had been playing on it for the month and no problem so I don't think
it was that) suddenly more often then not my connection is so awful that I cannot even play. after a week or 2 it was constant, I never received good connection. And that is still the same.

I tried calling the help line and was on the phone for over 2 hours with a guy. He was really nice and all and certainly tried but couldn't figure anything out. I have done almost everything I can think of or try. I've run troubleshoots, googled and searched
error codes. I've manually input DNS and IP addresses, opened ports, reserved IP addresses, had my service provider come out and upgrade hardware, researched hardware, checked on these forums what the recommended download upload and ping numbers were for optimal
gaming and my provider is good for all of them (I am rural so my service provider doesn't have great numbers for download and upload and ping but they were all well enough above what I found (in several places as optimal numbers)

I would love to get a reply from an xbox help employee (or anyone that has had this same or similar problem). Did something change with xbox live that made these requirements higher? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!

    :)

  2. Xbox live connection terrible and sporadic

    Hey there WiderCrescent3!

So, you have tested your Xbox LIVE connection, and no errors appeared? Just to be sure, try again and if anything does pop up view the

    Connection Error
page (personal favorite for solutions regarding Xbox LIVE connection errors).

    Okay, now, please perform a
    Network Speed Test
and post the results so we can compare your network speed to the minimum requirements for Xbox LIVE, and its features, to run smoothly.

You may also want to have a little look at the
    Xbox LIVE Lag Problem
support page (the first page will give you some advice of which I have given, and is where we can compare your network results to the minimum requirements). Simply follow that page, as it may help as well!

Post back and let us know how it goes! ^_^

Hey there Sun! I'm sincerely sorry to hear about the connection issues! It definitely sounds like you've done a ton of troubleshooting so far, so I'll try my best not to go over anything you've already done.

If you're using a wireless connection, I suggest starting off by giving a wired connection a try. That would be the simplest solution to try and will also give us a hint as to whether the issue may lie with the console's wireless receiver, etc.

Please let us know how that goes! If you continue to experience connection issues with a wired connection, please check out our sticky

HERE and reply back with the information in bold at the bottom.

Happy Holidays! We look forward to hearing back from you. =)

  5. Yes i have tried almost everything, i am currently on wired connection (ran a 90 foot cable through ducts and roofing all through my house to get it to my xbox and still am having problems.

Now i have also done this little form thing i have here below, except last time i did i got no reply, so since im doing it again i would really appreciate if it could also then move passed this stage.

just a heads up, i have three situations that occur while on the xbox.

    1. i cannot connect to xbox live whatsover, this gives an error (the code i dont have memorized) but it says cannont connect blah blah blah, check that your actually connected blah blah blah, this console is not connected. (im paraphrasing here to save time
and again dont have the whole thing memorized)

When this guy happens i get ZERO service. also on this running the test connection and looking at suggested fixes, almost always it says something is wrong with the DNS, wrong DNS, cannot work out the DNS, etc etc.

    2. I can connect and it says everything is dandy. loading things takes a while but i can usually get into games. NAT type is almost always moderate (have tried the fix for NAT to get it to be open, but it never works, also it is occasionally open but that
doesnt make any difference). I get into games and the lag is unbelievable. Like i stated in my first post, i always played with lag, living out in the country, rural connections are nothing like in the city, but it was doable. now it is so impossibly slow.

and finally 3: this is very similar to the previous case, can connect, things take a while to load. get in game everything is fantastically laggy. Now the only difference to the previous situation in this one is that i get a warning that the nat type is
really bad and this has only ever affected me (other then the lag problem persistent in both cases) in the fact that it takes extra long to find games i can match up with.

Since i cannont get my xbox to put out all three of these problems this is filled out for the one it would give me, which happened to be the 3rd situation.

What Country/State/Province do you live in?

    Modem brand & model number:

    Router brand & model number:

How many consoles do you have connected to this router?

Wired or wireless (for each console):

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal (Xbox 360S) adapter?

    Things you have tried:

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?

    Any Error Codes you encounter:

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)?

After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" press “Y” for "More Info”. In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? (If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank.)

    W:0000 - 0008

    X: 0000 - F001

    Y: 20A8 - 48E0

    Z: 0000 - 0000

    ID: 0007 - 0000

    L: 0015 - 10F0

    Q: 8007 - 0435

    T: Wired

    D: 10.0.1.1/0.0.0.0

S: (it had no value for this)

C: (it had no value for this)

Again, please help me. I am gettting quite frustrated with this as it has been an ongoing battle for several months now. Thanks

  6. What Country/State/Province do you live in?

    Canada/Alberta

    Modem brand & model number:

(This one im not sure about, we are in the country so we have a dish that runs a wire into the house which plugs into a small black box that is POE box. which then goes into our router)

    Ubiquiti Networks , Switching Gigabit Power Supply/POE , model #: GP-A240-050G

    Router brand & model number:

Apple , Air Port Express 802.11n (second generation)

How many consoles do you have connected to this router?

2 (one wireless that hasnt been used in a couple months and one new that is currently what i use. bought the second one because the first one started having all these problems and was hoping it was just because it was really old)

Wired or wireless (for each console):

    old console wireless

    new console wired

If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal (Xbox 360S) adapter?

old console - black external adapter

new console - tried using the internal adapter, now using wired

    Things you have tried:

    unplugging router, modem, xbox, replugging

    opening ports

manually inputting DNS, IP address, etc

    reserving IP address

    going from wireless to wired

    bought new xbox

reaching out on xbox forums (this right now is the second time)

calling support line (was on the phone for 2 hours, got nowhere)

googling and trying just about everything else

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown

    No

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type?

For the third situation it will come up with a NAT error, however even if it doesnt do that NAT type is almost always moderate.

    Any Error Codes you encounter:

for the most part the only error encountered is the one mentioned in the first situation. which (of course) the xbox wont come up with right now, but the error code is 80151907

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)?

    Community eFirehose

Also i managed to get the information for the second situation as well:

    W:0000 - 000B

    X: 0000 - F001

    Y: 20A8 - 48E0

    Z: 0000 - 0000

Hey again Sun! Thanks so much for posting in such detail. It definitely helps me get a clearer picture of what you're seeing.

Reading through your situation, it really sounds like the connection you're using may be rather unreliable for Xbox Live. The setup you're describing sounds like internet through RF (Radio Frequency). That signal can be interfered with and disrupted by all
sorts of things from trees to snow/rain, etc. It's highly possible that something is interfering with the signal and that's what's causing the service interruptions on your end.

For this situation, I think it's best that we get you on the phone with a connectivity specialist. I see in your initial post that you say you've already spoken with someone from phone support about the issue. I suggest using the
Contact Us page to get in touch with phone support again. When you do, please let them know that you've already spoken with a Tier 1 agent before, you have RF Internet, and that you would like
to speak with someone who knows a little more about networking. That should help you to get in touch with a connectivity specialist who should be able to assist you.

Thank you again for posting in such detail. I truly hope this helps. After you've spoken with phone support, please feel encouraged to come back and let us know how things went. We hope to hear back from you! =)

We borrowed another 360, and it is accessing the network and all Live applications just fine, including Amazon. Therefore, I think it's likely that our 360 has bitten the dust. I'm going to see about getting it repaired.
