    Hi

    I'll supply all related information below, but first a brief backstory.

    I have two Xbox 360s - one is the 360 slim connected via wireless, and one is a 360 fat. I'm sharing my profile between both consoles without drama, until Saturday night when my 360 fat suddenly couldn't connect to Xbox live. This has continued throughout
    Sunday (today). After finding the issues with the 360 fat, I jumped on the 360 slim, performed a cloud sync and retrieved some save games without issue.

    I might add this was during a time when my ISP were apparently performing maintenance in the area. However, as mentioned, the 360 slim didn't encounter any issues during this time. Now that my ISP is no longer reporting any maintenance, I checked the 360
    fat and same issues exist. The 360 slim still has no problems connecting to Xbox Live.

    Both consoles connect through the same hardware as below, both have fixed IP addresses outside of the router's DHCP range. IP address for the 360 slim is in the DMZ on my router, whilst for the 360 fat, I have the usual port forwarding rules in place. None
    of this configuration has changed according to my checking.

    I'll provide supporting information for both consoles below in case it helps. Both of these reports were produced around the same time.

    Xbox 360 fat - can't connect to Xbox live



    What Country/State/Province do you live in?: Queensland, Australia

    Modem brand & model number: Cisco DPQ3212

    Router brand & model number: WD Net n750

    How many consoles do you have connected to this router?: 2

    Wired or wireless (for each console): One wired - 360 fat, one wireless - 360 slim

    If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal adapter (Xbox 360 S/E)?: 360 slim uses the internal adapter

    Things you have tried: Initially, I tried switching the modem off for 5 minutes by pulling the power cord, and rebooting it plus the router. As mentioned above, the 360 slim which has its IP address in the DMZ is not having any issue, so I tried the
    360 fat's IP address in DMZ but this did not help. I've tried a network settings reset and then specified a different fixed IP address outside of the router's DHCP range and updated the port forwarding rules accordingly. I've tried switching network cables.

    Any Error Codes you encounter: No

    Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)?: Optus cable



    After you run "Test Xbox Live connection", press “A” for "More Info”, and then "Y" for "Status". In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? (If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank.)

    W: 0000 - 000B

    X: 0001 - 8005

    Y: 30A8 - 4800

    Z: 0000 - 0000

    ID: FFFF - FFFF

    L: 8015 - 190E

    Q: 8007 - 0435

    T: Wired

    D: 192.168.1.1/0.0.0.0

    S: N/A

    C: N/A





    Xbox 360 slim - connects to Xbox live successfully



    After you run "Test Xbox Live connection", press “A” for "More Info”, and then "Y" for "Status". In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? (If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank.)

    W: 0000 - 0021

    X: 0001 - 8005

    Y: 20A8 - 4800

    Z: 0000 - 0000

    ID: FFFF - FFFF

    L: 0015 - 10F0

    This is a weird one, so it would be great if it just fixed itself again all of a sudden!

    My xbox just quit being connected as of 35 min ago with the same thing. I was on xbox live and it gliched out when i went to the zune app and then now doing the same exact thing as yours. I am connected to the internet and it just says can not establish
    conection with xbox live. What is more iritating is that the live tech support will not sucure a conection either.

    Sorry to hear it. It may very well be that the FAT console's network card is dying on you due to the age of it. Unfortunately, if this is the case, there is nothing that can be done about it save trying a wireless adapter as FAT consoles are no longer
    being serviced.

    Yes I feared some sort of hardware failure might be involved. It looks like I didn't mention that the network and internet checks passed when I ran through the diagnostics. Also the console is aware that all services are up and running and I could run through
    a network test ok (where latency, packet loss etc are reported)

    I'm happy to report that my problem is now resolved. I wish I could say that it was the resources available through Xbox Support which got me going again, but unfortunately that's not true!

    I searched around for awhile for additional troubleshooting techniques - I found the bit about updating DNS to point to Google's servers, which did nothing.

    Note that I had already performed a 5 minute "pull the power and reconnect" operation as described earlier, which did nothing.

    This is the process I followed which is a mix of advice from Redditors:

    - Firstly unplug your modem and router (or if you have a modem with built in router just unplug that).

    - Turn off the Xbox, and unplug the power cord and unplug the network cable

    - Wait 10 minutes

    - Plug in the modem and router and wait until the internet is back (check it with another device)

    - When the internet is back, plug in the xbox power cable and the network cable, then turn the xbox on

    After following the above, I went straight to the network connection test area and the Xbox live connection test worked. That was only 10 minutes after I had previously tested the network connection and the Xbox live connection test failed.

    I hope this helps out someone else!

    Good stuff! Didn't think this would help someone so soon. Quite bizarre how this worked so well when I was thinking it was a dead end and I should seriously look into 2nd hand consoles.

  9. Thank you so much! I've spent hours this morning trying to correct a similar problem (console connects to the internet but not Xbox Live), I've chatted with a representative, and nothing worked. When I was convinced I'd have to take the console to maintenance,

    I powered it back on it downloaded an Xbox live update and let me sign back in to Xbox live.
