    Xbox Live chat suspension

Was I really given a chat ban for calling someone a peasant? This person harassed me in Rocket League and claimed to have "bots". I feel as though I could have justifiably called this person much worse. I actively participate in the Xbox Live community
by reporting individuals who are actually toxic. Where is the justice in this circumstance? Please shed some light upon this situation.

    :)

Cant hear anyone in game and party

    Communications Suspensions
Communication suspensions are imposed due to inappropriate conduct during communication activities on Xbox Live. This suspension blocks an account from accessing any communication features on Xbox Live, including text messages, voice messages, video communications,
Skype on Xbox One, in-game chat, and party chat. Communications suspensions are issued for a specified temporary duration, often of 1, 7, or 14 days.

During a communications suspension the account may continue to access the Xbox Live service, including online multiplayer. At the conclusion of the suspension all communication functionality will be automatically restored.

For information about your suspension and to see about submitting a case review, you would need to go to http;//enforcement.xbox.com

Thanks for the canned response. I cannot submit a case review because it's a 24-hour ban that lasts for about 28. Go figure. I'll just say that I'm thoroughly disappointed in this process. Had I actually harassed anyone or verbally assaulted them, I would
take my lumps and move on. But calling someone a peasant? Give me a break, Microsoft... This actually makes me consider if I want to continue utilizing Xbox as my #1 platform. I'm sure Phil Spencer would be embarrassed by this "enforcement action team".

Anything that can be seen as offensive will get you a ban, unfortunately 24 hour bans cannot be appealed, Most gaming services if not all use the same type of code of conduct now with regards to communications.

  7. Hi, it is the context of the message, that is the cause of the suspension, not just a word. If it was mean't to insult, then it breaks the code of conduct. Unfortunately a 24hr suspension doesn't allow for a case review. If the other person was being toxic,
you should of reported them, muted, blocked and not responded.

I suggest having a read of enforcements site: https://enforcement.xbox.com

    Precision
With authority comes great responsibility; we must be precise in our investigations, documentation, reporting, and application of enforcement policy.

This was taken from the enforcement page. Evidently this statement is there only as window dressing. There appears only to be a mechanism that issues bans without actually considering what "action" took place.

"This account sent inappropriate messages or participated in inappropriate voice or text communications. This may include harassment or bullying behavior, using abusive or offensive language, negative
speech towards a person or group, disruptive behavior, spamming, or other inappropriate communications."

Without a third party looking at the situation, anyone could claim harassment or bullying at any time and you would have to act based on the individual's feelings alone. Unless you consider that the individual who reported me is actually a peasant in a kingdom
somewhere, then I can't believe that they, or anyone, would actually find that language offensive. Finally, the two messages that I sent could hardly be considered spamming, disruptive or inappropriate.

So please, remind me again how any of this breaks the code of conduct? I deal with trolls who spout racism and bigotry on a nearly daily basis and almost always report them via Rocket League's reporting system. If it is severe enough, I also report via Xbox
Live. I am actively involved in making this community a better place for everyone. But to have a system in place that punishes without so much as even offering the slightest bit of review prior to an action of this nature is baffling.

Finally, why is a "1-day ban" set to last for 28 hours? That is just silly.

Since the enforcement team does not use the forums, no one here would be able to answer your questions 100%. The reason you were suspended could have also been for a different message or chat than what you think it is. The enforcement team do investigate
every complaint they receive before issuing a suspension.

While I don't doubt that there are instances of suspensions being issued after the fact, it just seems too convenient that this individual said "reported lol" and then one minute passes by before I have an email saying my chat was suspended. The likelihood
    of that is incredibly slim.

Additionally, unless you work for the enforcement team or intimately know the process, I don't think you should speak in such certainties about how they operate. Below your name, it might as well just say "Bored Volunteer". The original post was looking
for information. Every post thereafter has just been blowing off steam. I'm sure the team gets it right 90% of the time, maybe even higher. Those times when someone is unjustifiably banned because some community member misuses the system are unfortunate. I
just think Microsoft can do better.

This can apparently get you banned. And Sony was worried about cross-play because they couldn't guarantee their users would be protected. Lol...

That actually sheds some light on the situation. It's most likely not your peasant comment that got you suspended, but the one before that.

    From the code of conduct:

What are examples of content that is prohibited in Xbox Live?

Content that could harm or harass a person, including yourself, or an animal.
    For example:

    • Profane words or phrases
    • Suicide-related content
    • Negative speech (including hate speech or threats of harm) directed at people who belong to a group, including groups based on race, ethnicity, nationality, language, gender, age, disability, veteran status, religion, or sexual orientation/expression
    • "Noise", which is excessive speech intended to interfere with or disrupt another person's or group's ability to enjoy a game or app on Xbox Live
    • Content showing or promoting animal abuse

    • Content that promotes, or sounds or looks like words, phrases, puns, images or imagery that refer to any prohibited
      content

This society is going to heck in a handbasket because of how soft everyone is. Pardon my French. I hope that profane language didn't offend anyone. I will be sure to inundate the system in the future with any and all complaints for anything even remotely
off color. Additionally I will report not only things that affect me but that I perceive could negatively affect someone else. Because apparently that is what the system is in place for to shelter us all from any situation that might be considered even remotely
uncomfortable. Please excuse me while I put my kid gloves on.

  14. As I said, it's all about context. Also using acronyms isn't a smart move, the enforcement team fully understand the intended language.

Microsoft made the rules, you agreed to them, when you signed up. Just think about a message before hitting send. Intended context of the languaged used. Also you never know to whom you are spouting off to. If you were a parent and saw messages like that
directed at your child, how would you react?

If I were a parent, I would have disciplined my child for running their mouth to begin with. Consequences do have repercussions. This type of corrective action only justifies, especially if they received the message that gets sent out, their actions. And
if somebody told my kid to (Mod Removed-Profanity) because my kid had run his mouth, I'd tell them that life happens. I'm sure his parents blame his teacher when he messed up in school, too. Kids don't develop mechanisms to learn to cope with
rejection because society won't allow it. I appreciate the effort to justify this whole scenario but, in my mind, it's just uncalled for.

And I ask again, since when are there 28 hours in a day?
