Xbox Live Chat Mic Issues

I've been trying to use xbox live voice chat with my friends. I've used two different controllers and two different headsets and still only can hear people; they can never hear me. I just want to be able to speak. I've updated both controllers and restarted the console many times. I've checked my audio settings and my security/permissions etc.

To clarify my issue for comparison. I can hear other people with the Xbox One Chat Headset. They cannot hear me. In addition the mic icon in the Xbox Live Party Chat Menu is ALWAYS ON regardless of whether or not the mic is plugged in or the controller is
on or off. The mic icon is ALWAYS ON.

Hi Isaiah,

It seems the issue is related to the in-game chat option not working properly in a streaming format since your mic and headsets works in other formats and they work separately on different displays.

What happens if you invite your brother's profile to an Xbox Live party chat and communicate that way? Is there an audio or mic issue when forming a party chat and choosing to not speak in game chat?

None of that has worked; I've tried everything I could find in other forums/answers/etc.

this is a mic issue not an xbox issue

might be true. No echo on my PC when in a chat though. Fairly sure it's a settings issue. Nothing wrong with console or xbox live. Thanks for the response.
