Xbox live bridge to laptop

I have the first xbox and don't want to buy the router. when I try to use the wired connection it tells me to connect using Ethernet but I have the Ethernet connected to my laptop and connected to my wifi(shared)

Xbox one network bridge keeps disconnecting

Hi

I'm currently at university and having to connect to Xbox live through Eduroam. I managed this at my last uni using a network bridge through my laptop but here it seems even more tricky. I have set up a similar network bridge and am able to play on Xbox
live, download games and watch netflix etc... but every 30mins or so, the game disconnects and it takes about 15 mins for the connection to resume. I've been looking at all the different settings to see what is changing and have noticed that under 'network
bridge status', the IPv4 connectivity shows 'no network access' when the connection is working, but changes to 'internet' as soon as I disconnect. I assume this is the laptop effectively changing from supplying the xbox to allowing internet access through
the laptop instead. I have tried a number of options like preventing the laptop from managing the power to the adaptor etc... but nothing seems to have worked. Does anyone know how to ensure the laptop is supplying the network bridge at all times, as opposed
to connecting to the internet directly?

Have Internet Connection Sharing turned on, to whatever is connected to your modem. If that's wireless, then have that turned on. Make sure that it's set to share with the Ethernet adapter on your computer. Then plug it in.

Honestly, doing it this way will give you inconsistent speeds, terrible latency (delay), and isn't really a good option if you're planning on doing any online multiplayer. Just go buy a router. You can get a cheap one for 20 bucks. :S

i have o2 internet through a wireless router and had the exact same problem, was on able to use xbox live then suddenly one day it would not let me on. i use a bridge on my laptop

i removed the bridge and re added it and everything worked fine for me.

Hi,

You cannot do this on the Xbox so you would have to accept this on your laptop and share the laptops connection to the Xbox

Yes you can "bridge" you laptop's wifi and Ethernet and effectively connect your Xbox through it. Using your laptop as a gateway/router.

there, you can then use a flash drive to transfer that content.
