xbox live blocked on my xbox

I cannot remember the email I set up my current xbox with, and xbox live is blocked and everything i do makes things worse. I have tried acciount recovery request etc. It is a nightmare. I reformatted the machine and linked it to the email i always use but
that microsoft account is stuck on an old gamertag from a previous (ring of deathed) machine. I linked it to my current xbox and tried to change the gamertag. Big surprise - it's changed the gamertag on the account i cannot access but iI still need the login
details. How come I didn't need the login details for paying money to change things on an account i have no access to. I know the card I set up the blocked account with has expired. So I can
buy things for the inaccessible account from another account but I can't do anything else.

Perhaps you should consider blocking
payments to an inaccessible account. Why would I do that? I want my money refunded.
