Xbox Live being Selective ??

So I am connected perfectly fine to Xbox Live having no issues however my room mate less than 15 feet away connected to the same router / ISP is unable to connect to Xbox Live his account is gold and says everything is fine but alas he is unable to connect
after all the Steps to fix the issue even. None of his pins or apps show up on the home screen, it says he's connected to the internet just fine and let's him sign into his account but days he's not connected to live. I feel like Live is being really selective
today as I am connected and many of my friends are but my room mate and many other people I'm reading on here are not.

Ive got invaited to the preview program and my friend got accepted and i did not

They are being selective on who they accept you will just have to wait

i thought of that Collapse but i'm being very selective this generation especially since games are so huge to install.

Sorry to hear about the connection issues! Yesterday we had a service alert about something similar, are you still experiencing this issue? If so try a full power cycle:

• Press and hold the power button on the Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
  
• Once the unit is powered off, unplug the power cable from the Xbox One and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  
• Plug the power back into the unit and power the console on.
