    The Service is continually found in a "stopping" state as per whatever causes it to stop I am unsure. This prevents using the app during this time, "We cant sign you in right now. Try again later.", (0x409) 0x80080005.

    The only workaround so far has been to pull the PID of the service and kill it. The service then starts and you can use the app. The alternative is to restart the PC and launch the app right away.

    From command prompt admin:

    > sc queryex XblAuthManager

    > taskkill /f /pid xxxx (xxxx is PID from previous command)

    This issue was fixed by moving to the Windows Insider Preview Build

    0x87DD002C Error

    Been getting the error 0x87DD002C "We can't sign you into XBox Live right now."

    Things I've tried:

    Restarting the app

    Signing out then signing in

    System restart

    Deleting the account, signing in with local, then readding it

    Xbox Live Auth Manager, Xbox Live Game Save, and Xbox Live Networking Service are all automatic

    No updates are pending, no VPN is used

    Hi Chaos, Can you try using the Xbox App (Beta)? Its currently using the latest version: 15.15.11005.00000. See if your able to reproduce. If the issue continues please use the "Report a problem" in the beta app so a report is generated with helpful data
    and sent to the developers for investigation. You can DL the beta app located here:

    I am having this same issue with both Xbox and Xbox (beta). This issue only arose after upgrading to Insider Preview build 14279. Even uninstalling the beta app and reinstalling did not resolve the issue. As the standard Xbox app is not uninstallable, I
    could not check with that app. But, just as OP suggested, killing the service with the PID did solve this problem. I'd hate to have to use this workaround each time...

  7. I am also using build 14279, however, installing the beta seems to have resolved the issue I was seeing.

    The only thing I did before installing was reboot and to ensure the service was not stuck in the stopping before install, it was actually in the running state when I did do the install.

    I've had this issue even before the latest insider build. Unable to play Age of Empires: Castle Seige because of it. This also happens on Windows 10 Mobile as well (Lumia 950). It's stuck in the stopping state.

  11. Just FYI,

    Updated to the latest W10 build last night, 14291 and the stuck in stopping state issue reappeared again.

    Killed the service task (was then in a stopped state), uninstalled the xbox beta app, then reinstalled it again and tested several times. The issue has once again gone away.

    Having the same issue with both Xbox and Xbox (beta) apps. Humorously, the old Smartglass app works. The command prompt commands fixed it. There seems to be an issue needing addressed with this.
