Xbox live and ultimate confusion

I have approximately eight months of standard xbox live and and I have been recently debating whether or not to get game pass ultimate. If I do get ultimate, what will happen to the eight months I have already purchased? And if they both converge, will it matter how long I purchase ultimate for?

If you haven't used Ultimate before, purchasing Ultimate will convert your remaining Live Gold to Ultimate + the duration of Ultimate you add.

To clarify, you have 8 months of Live Gold left. If you purchase one month of Ultimate, you'll get 9 months of Ultimate on your account.

Could just be you are confusing xbox gamepass and gamepass ultimate.

Xbox Gamepass is xbox only, gamepass ultimate is xbox and pc.

If you buy the xbox game pass/ultimate game pass before purchasing xbox live gold. Your game pass benifts will only last for the time it lasts. Although a good to know trick, is buying gold first and then the ultimate game pass, and your 6months gold will
be converted into 6months of ultimate. Hopefully you understand, I also found it confusing at first

You agreed to have it converted to gamepass ultimate so you Can't go back on that. Kind of confused why you would cancel your gamepass when it was paid up in advance. It provides you with xbox live as well.
