Xbox Live and extensions

I wanted to extend my Live membership for a year and was .99 short of the cost from what I have in my account. I bought a 3-month card thinking I could use it to top off the .99 I was short. Well, that didn't work. I only got the 3-months.

And when prompted to put in for the "free" extra month, I wasn't allowed to use the money in my account for "auto-pay". Live wanted a number from a credit/debit card or PayPal. We don't like leaving such personal info out, especially when there's such a
high probability of hacking into the system (as what happened not long ago).

Why couldn't I use what I had to get the year membership?

Also, I lost Gears of War. I played on it for awhile, then I couldn't, and now it's gone. What happened?

So...

The forums are an extension, and thus a part of, the Xbox LIVE service. The Terms of Use and Code of Conduct applies to the entire service (including it's extensions). Breaking these agreements while using any part of our Xbox LIVE service is subject to
enforcement action. When users are suspended from Xbox LIVE they are also suspended from the forums, thus this situation is treated the same.

What's the status on the Xbox Live subscription extension to make up for the numerous Live outages?

The Microsoft account balance is not set up to work with a recurring subscription so it's not a valid payment method for gold through Live. Prepaid gold cards are only set up to give you the time they are for, not currency. You would need an Xbox gift card
to add currency to your account.

As far as Gears of War, are you trying to find it on the 360 or the One?

On the Xbox One S. I put it in the download section when for some reason I couldn't play it and participate in the games that were going on with it. A phone call for assistance had little results, so it sat in download until I saw it was gone this morning.
I'd been trying every day to get it going, but was refused access. So I figured someone there decided it wasn't to be up anymore.

In your Games and Apps it should be listed under Ready to Install so you should be able to redownload it from there.
