Xbox Live Account Was Hijacked

The other day I wake up to 6 emails and a text message saying that my password had been reset, my emails and phone number removed and a new email address was added. They then charged $200 worth of games on my credit card on file. I have tried to get in touch
with customer service which is a joke. Every method of contacting them requires you to log into your account, which I no longer have access to. I have a second account that I use for achievements which is what I am using now. I finally find a phone number
and I get someone who talks in a thick accent that I can not understand. He tells me he will process my request and will call me back in an hour which he never does. I called back the next day and speak to someone who tells me that they will forward this info
to his supervisor and someone will call me with in 3 days and that never happens. I call back again today and get someone who speaks with no accent and says she escalated the complaint and someone with be in touch via email or phone, with no time frame. What
kind of customer service is this? I have been a faithful Xbox customer for 8 years and have spent thousands of dollars on consoles for me and my children. What the hell do I have to do get get my account back? If i didn't have a high gamer score and already
paid for my xbox live i would switch to a PS4. This is a joke and Microsoft should be ashamed their customer service.

Wow, yours was way worse than mine technically... i only had 10000 points purchased through my account and spent on stuff for a game that i don't even play. I too am very personal with my passwords and accounts, and i unfortunately was stupid enough to
trust microsoft with my debit card on file. They told me that the investigation would take 7 days... but we are coming up on the 5th day mark of the start to their investigation, with no sign what-so-ever that i will be refunded my money. It's sad that such
a huge corporation such as microsoft, treats compromised customers with ill regards. funny how none of us have gone to a large gaming website yet. When monday comes around, i may have to talk to an ign or gamespot representative to get this mess more in the
know.

 

If only you put this much compassion into protecting your User account and password instead of blaming Microsoft for your errors, you wouldn't be having this issue.

to true, you have been phished or you shared accounts, the only way the account will be stolen, microsoft will have to open an investigation which can take 28 days

 

My errors? They manipulated the password reset from another email or phone to get into my account. then deleted all of my contact information so I don't know how I am at fault.

Have you received any emails from MS/Xbox lately asking you to click a link and login? If so, there's a good chance the email was not legit.

 

First off, you should contact your credit card company...not M.S.. After contacting and cancelling your compromised credit card you contact M.S. about your account. Priorities.

Well...if your account has been phished, your gamer score is the least of your concerns.

 

Why did you not set up Microsoft Authorisation on your Phone.

If anything or anybody tries to access my account, i will asked to confirm by my mobile, whether or not i agree to it. That includes Payments, Password Changes, and any strange logins from around the world.

This is step one of my imposed 2 step verification system, They do put protections into their system if you are willing to use them.

Other than that, i hope you get it sorted. And Phising can happen on any system, Bank Details, Paypal, Ebay, Etc, Etc. It is not Microsoft's or anybody's else problem to keep your details safe, when you are unable to do so yourself.
