Xbox live account not connected to Microsoft account (Gaming)

You can upgrade your offline profile to an profile with xbox live access, but you will need an Microsoft account (windows live account) that doesn't already have an xbox account connected.

Since you mention that there is already an xbox account connected to your Microsoft account, you will first need to remove it. This can be done by

1. downloading that profile that is already connected to your Microsoft account

2. Move that xbox account to a other/new Microsoft account (this can be done after 30 days, and is a security measure)

3 now you are able to promote your offline account and connect it to your Microsoft account (the windows live account) since it no longer holds an xbox account.

4. When the offline profile is Signed in, press the guide button and select 'connect to live' and follow the steps.

have you tried making your account (on the pc) a local account, should be somewhere in the personal settings options.

This will remove the link with the account to your Microsoft account (and that Xbox Live account)

After that you should be able to connect your own xbox live account to the account on the pc (when opting for connecting a microsoft account) to specify your own Microsoft account (and Xbox Live account)

only one xbox live account can be connected to a specific Microsoft Account, so if you want to 'upgrade' an offline profile to a xbox live account you will need to use a Microsoft Account that doesn't have an xbox live account already connected.

So if you don't have an Microsoft Account without an Xbox live account connected you will need to create a new Microsoft Account if you want to 'upgrade' that offline profile.

Disconnecting your microsoft account from your pc account, will allow you to connect via a different microsoft account for each app.

You could also connect the microsoft account with your xbox live account to the pc account.

whenever you use one single Microsoft account (email address etc) it should show the same gamertag and information anywhere.

If both do have different Microsoft accounts then there is no way to merge them.

If both have the same Microsoft account and your console is connected to xbox live I suggest contacting Xbox support via
support.xbox.com/contact-us since there should be only one connected.

If one on the console isn't connected to an Microsoft account you will need to connect it to a Microsoft account (via guide button - join xbox live) that doesn't already have a xbox live account connected.
