Xbox Live Account Linked to Old Email Address

My xbox live/Microsoft account is linked to an old email address that I no longer have access to. My linked phone number has changed as well. When I try to sign in to xbox live, it tells me that "someone else may be using my account". When I go online to
fix it, all I'm told is that someone else is using the account.

I have had 3 very long conversations with xbox support that have not been helpful, and now I'm not able to connect to anyone in a support chat at all. I searched for a few phone numbers, but they all refer back to the website and hang up on you.

I have a case number and received an email from xbox saying I can respond to the email, and I have, but still have yet to hear anything back.

I do apologize for this inconvenience, unfortunately we would not be able to provide any reimbursement for the month that was not used.

Best thing to do is to try and request the refund through our webform. Alternatively you can attempt to
Contact Xbox Support to see if there is anything that they can do.

That is unfortunate but again I do appreciate your help. I don't suppose I can be reimbursed for the month of xbox live that has been paid in advance that I will not be able to utilize?

Under normal circumstances yes you would have access to the account (except for making major changes) but in situations like this you would not have access to the account.

The 30 days is put into place for security measures to make sure that it is the rightful owner of the account trying to gain access to the account.

This is why it is important to keep your account information including security proofs up to date on your accounts.

I appreciate the quick response, I tried to do the recovery and it came back from Microsoft as me trying to access my old .edu email address, which they obviously said they couldn't grant access to.

The support chat person yesterday advised me to call my old university to see if they would reactivate my account for a short time, I finally got through to them today and they are not willing to do that. The best they could do would be to grant me a new
email address for alumni that I could get in about 4 weeks. I have a service request number.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the Microsoft Account. I recommend to try the following
troubleshooting article: Recover
and reset your lost Microsoft account password.

Try this when you get to the portion "Where should we send the code." Click on I don't have access to any of these,
and proceed with the Account
Recovery Form.

Try this out and let us know the results.
