Xbox live account issues

The CC account i used for my yearly xbl sub was closed this year due to me not using it for anything else. Now i cant use live services as apparently im owing money.

For what, surely when my sub ended after the year its finished, ended , ceased, stopped etc so how can i owe on a card i physically cut up and binned months ago?

But i cant add a new payment method until the (prepaid) sub is payed off on the now defunct credit card.

For what we pay for your products it would be nice to speak to a real human on a helpline.!

Weird Xbox Live Account issue?

It been strange it only happened on video marketplace, fine under games?

Remove your account from the Xbox and then add it back to the Xbox this will force the Xbox to rsync with your cloud live account. That should fix your issue. I believe that code is for a cloud account exception.

 

If you don't turn off auto-renewal before your subscription is set to renew, the system will still try to charge you. Once they can't charge the card they have on file, the account is suspended. But since they already start the subscription, you accrue a
balance you have to pay off first.

To speak to billing you would need to go to Contact Us | Xbox Support to request a callback (say no, thanks to the virtual assistant).

 

When a subscription is paid with a credit/debit card it is set to automatically renew at the end of the period that it was bought for.

If the initial charge does not go through MS will continue to allow the service to run for about a month while they continue to try and charge the card and email you to let you know that there is a problem with your payment instrument.

You should be able to sign into your account at account.microsoft.com and add a payment instrument there and then go into the subscription section of that website and clear up that payment due.

Here we get to the issue of why i cancelled the Cc, companies taking money they arent entitled to, the Cc no longer exists.

So am i going to now have to pay another years sub even if i didnt want it?

You can try contacting support and speak to billing to see if there is anything they can do about it, but most likely you will have to pay the balance you owe.

 

Others have answered the question well. Just to add, always make sure that you turn off auto-renewal from the accounts page on the Microsoft website. Unlike some other companies (Adobe subscriptions!), Microsoft allows you to switch auto-renewal off so
that such inadvertent billing doesn't happen.
