XBOX live account is not giving me Gold status

I bought the green prepaid gold membership card at Best Buy. I redeemed the code online at the computer. However, when my son wants to do things on the XBOX console, it keeps telling him that he must have Gold status. What did we do wrong?

Xbox Live Gold Problem

About an hour ago I put in my one year gold prepaid card code on my account and xbox live is not giving me gold. I checked my account information and everything and my account is gold status but still acting as silver. Can you please fix this? :/

Xbox Live Confusion?

Xbox Live is free.

You can make a Gold account, or a Silver account.

The Gold account gives you access to access to play online, along with free monthly games and weekly deals. This has a fee.

The Silver account gives you access to Xbox Live and apps, but you just can't play online or get the free games. This is free.

If you redeem a code on the computer it can take a while for the membership to populate your account. If this is the case you can speed up the process by going to Settings>System>Network on the console and then run a Connection Test. When you log back
in the account should show as Gold.

If that doesn't work then perhaps you accidentally added the membership on a different account. You can double check the gamertags history by logging in a commerce.micrsoft.com. If this is the case then you would need to contact phone support and they
should be able to remove the membership from the one account and send you a code to redeem on the proper one.

Trial cards do not change your account status to gold. They only give you access to some benefits of online multiplayer. They will not work with all games or all game modes.

How do i change my account status? I just bought 1 year xbox live gold and activated the code.

bump, problem still not solved. I've looked on the internet and the only thing that seems to fix it is apperently to make a new adult account and giving that gold status. My account still has four months of gold status so that wouldn't be an option for me.

a 1 mounth dose not give you gold status just gold privelges your current account status is silver

I've had the same problem for few days now. First it connects to Xbox live, then immediately disconnect me from Xbox live and tells me it can't connect to it, and wants me to test the network. The network tests always pass fine. Still can't connect to xbox
live.. Gold account. According to the status there are some issues with xbox live but they claim it only affects Minecraft. support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-status
