Xbox Live Account Creation Fails with Session ID Error and 429 Too Many Requests

Hello Microsoft Support Team,

I'm reaching out because I'm experiencing a technical issue when trying to create an Xbox Live profile using two existing Microsoft accounts:

Both accounts can log in to other Microsoft services (like Outlook or Microsoft Store) without any issues. However, when attempting to access Xbox Live, the system treats them as new users and prompts to create an avatar.

The problem occurs at the final step:
When clicking "Continue" / "Let's go" to proceed with avatar creation, nothing happens — the action doesn't respond and the process gets stuck.

Error 429 - Too Many Requests

POST https://sisu.xboxlive.com/proxy?sessionid=CENSURED 429 (Too Many Requests)

This suggests that the request is being rate-limited by the server. Even after only a few attempts, the endpoint appears to be blocking further submissions.

Known Request Failure

CreateAccountWithClassicGamertag: Known request failure.

Tested in multiple browsers (Chrome, OperaGX, Edge, Mozilla).

Tested in multiples PC (3)

Tested in the same network

Cleared cache and cookies.

Used incognito/private mode.

Despite these efforts, the issue persists for both accounts.

I would greatly appreciate if your team could:

Investigate the account status to determine why the avatar creation step fails silently.

Confirm if there's a temporary restriction or lock due to suspected excessive requests.

I’m happy to provide additional logs or grant more context if needed.

I'm sorry you're experiencing these issues.

Recently the Xbox support has published that there are problems in the servers, when this happens, Microsoft engineers are the ones who must solve the problem and we as users must wait for them to announce that it is already solved.

You can check this by opening the following website

https://support.xbox.com/xbox-live-status

There you will be able to identify when everything is solved

This is now affecting my friend on his Xbox. This must be a proper issue, sites that this happened to me on don’t on his, but ones that do on his don’t on mine. There is something wrong with the app, it’s sending requests at random. It only started after the last update!

Nope. It’s effecting everyone, even sites like yahoo won’t work. Theirs is nothing to fix it. I have done everything possible, even factory reset and nope, the new update forced has broken it. They need to let there be a chrome app, a web browser that works. This is terrible advertising for using edge on other devices, it’s rubbish and never fixed or updated, maybe 1x every few yrs they update it
