Xbox Live account concern

Hi guys,

So I'm going to sell my Xbox 360 Slim 250GB and every game that goes with it so I can buy the new Xbox One. I have a few concerns to clear up before I do that though.

Obviously I'll have to delete everything from the hard drive, that will not mean I'll lose my Xbox account, gamerscore and have my XBL Gold subscription cancelled, right? It may sound like a dumb question to ask as I'm sure you sign in with your existing
account if you have one for the Xbox One, but I want to know if it's best to keep my 360 until my Xbox One is set up, or whether I can sell it now (which is preferable for financial aid, obviously)

Xbox Live Usernames

We have had our Xbox Live account for a while now, and it's a paid account at that, but my husband's nephew recently created a free Xbox Live account and told us that where the free accounts are concerned, you're no longer allowed to pick your own username. Now, allegedly one is assigned to you and you cannot change it unless you pay to change it. Does anyone else know if this is true?

As long as the primary account have xbox live gold all other accounts get xbox live as well

 

question 2, no you will not delete your gamerscore or anything about your account here are two things you can use:

live.xbox.com/.../Protection

the link above removes your profile from all xbox's then you just delete your stuff .

question 3, you're fine you just need to remember the Microsoft account and password with the gamertag and then sign in on the new xbox one

 

It wouldn't be something that I would recommend when selling an Xbox 360. Letting the buyer pay for digital games and letting him transferring digital content I doubt can be re-sold. Giving someone access to their account to do so could be in some violation.
If the games you are selling are physical CDs then you should just tag them along with the 360. As for when you should sell it. You could sell it right away. And if there is any Games on Demand, Arcade Games DLC. You should ask the buyer if he wants to keep
them on there. You should never allow someone to have access to your account. And if he doesn't want any digital content on it, then just delete it all.

Lastly selling the Xbox 360 or when you do it is entirely up to you. Deleting your content or not will not delete your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership, if it did that it would most likely be removed when re-downloading your profile after an error, and it doesn't
so it's not going to. You will keep your Gamerscore and account which are stored on servers you re-download them from, you're safe there.

Word to the wise though, I would ignore anything about allowing you to let someone else use your profile to Transfer Licenses for someone else that isn't you. It's not a sharing program whether there is a sale or not. The content was bought from an account
not to any specific console. They are account-bound. And assigned to your new consoles in the future if you lose it for example.

The content was bought by the member asking the question. It should not be transfered for the use of someone else because they aren't going to be the one using it anymore. Licenses are bound to the Account not the console, although it gives two licenses
one for the Account and one for the Console. If he was to buy a new Xbox 360 he would not have those licenses and the only source to get it back would be through the Account. Advising someone to let them download their profile is also a violation. You should
not share any details in regards to your account with anyone else. You're an Ambassador, you should know all this already. Your post most likely got removed for the violations it involved when advising a member of the community to do something that isn't allowed.

I'm sorry, but now you both have me confused. I don't want to transfer anything, in fact I should have said that I would trade it in to a game shop rather than sell it, but regardless, someone will play the console again anyway.

All I want is to ensure my profile is safely available for me to sign into when I get my Xbox One, and that the 360 I trade in is returned to factory settings with nothing on it as if it was brand new and that there is no way my profile can be accessed from
that console.

 

Basically, your account information is saved on the Xbox servers. So if you delete your account from the console, you will not lose your gamerscore or anything like that. The only thing you would need to backup if you need them in the future, are your game
saves (if you plan on getting another 360).

So yes, your profile will be fine when you sign into your One.
