Xbox Live account compromised

So yesterday, someone got into my account without permission and I now have absolutely no access. The email associated with my gamertag has been changed and as well as all of my other info. I have called 1-800-4MY-XBOX already and they said that the situation
was going to be escalated. Now the question I have is: How will I be contacted? Will I get an email to one of the emails that I currently have access to? or will I simply receive a phone call? Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

Preventing people from hacking your account

One good rule of thumb is to have a completely different password for your xbox live account than any other service that you use. One of the reasons why some peoples accounts got compromised, was when EA's accounts got compromised, the people who got the
accounts, tried the same user name and passwords on xbox live and was granted access to some of those accounts.

If your account has been compromised, you need to call phone support in your region ASAP. Also, if you have had your account compromised more than once, please look into protecting yourself better.

They should email you when they complete the investigation. If you had another email address on the account that you currently have access to, it may be sent there. If they asked you for an email when you were on the phone, they may send it to that email.

I had this happen once and when I called they asked for an email address that was not currently tied to my account, so they sent it there.

 

Well each time they sent a support code, I received it at the email that I currently have access to. So would I just receive the email there? If not, should I call again?

 

That will most likely be where they send it then. I wouldn't call them again unless you don't hear from them after a couple of days.

I forgot to ask this before and I'm not sure if you'll be able to answer this for me but, how will they know that the account originally belonged to me? Would they ask me questions regarding my account?

 

I'm not sure exactly how they determine that.

You will have your IP address and recent sign ins onto your Microsoft Account, even if you have signed into Xbox live. Your recent activity should pop up. (As I remember). But they would verify some security info as well with you before they hand you an
account back.

What if all my info was changed? Would I be asked questions about the info that I had before my account was hacked?

If your information has been changed. It should detail this on their system. I don't know exactly, as I am not a Microsoft Employee, and only those who have access to this kind of information are the ones who know.

I am only going by what I have seen in the past, on both, here and the Microsoft Community.

 

f you are indeed the original owner of this account then you should be able answer any of the security questions they ask of you. If this was an account that was given to you or in the chance that you purchased it will most likely be shut down forever. They
will be able to see when account information was changed and who the account belongs to from the start.
