Xbox live account and profile

I started my spouses xbox live account until my email address years ago. I started my account under another email address for myself as well.

We are no longer together and I would like to release the account to him.

I read the forums and everyone said to change the email address on mircosoft account, I did that however by doing that it is changing my email address password whenever he goes to change log in password.

Example: My main email address is 1234, that is what we used to set up his xboxlive account. The one he uses with his profile. My secondary email is 5678, we used to set up my xboxlive account. The one I use with my profile.

So I changed the main email under his profile/account to his email and password. Thought it was fine, then I went to check my emails and it wouldnt log me in, it stated that the password was wrong. I used the password he changed it too and it worked. So it seems like even though it says "primary for log in purposes" it changes the password on my email address also.

I just need to be able to give him a log in and password without it affecting my email, how can I do this?
