Xbox live 3 subscription

Seriously, this was the deal, why do I have to be doing this?

You need a gold xbox live subscription to play online.The profile you are posting with is a silver.

You would need either a 1 month,3 month or 12 month xbox live subscription.

I understand that side of it, but why would it be advertised as that then? There was no small print stating otherwise as I tend to avoid those purchases.
