I recently redeemed my 14 day free trial that came with my xbox so that I could play the Rocket League Halloween event. However, when trying to search for an online game the prompt comes up to buy a gold subscription. Everything else including games with
gold works, so how come this doesn't?

Dutch retailers are mentioning a 14 day Xbox live trial included in the Day one edition.

Also have the same problem with my 48 hour xbox live gold trial and my 14 day xbox live gold trial.

Sorry to hear it. However, trial memberships are not full gold memberships and only give some access to Live services. Ranked matches such as the Rocket League Halloween event are not included in this. If you want to play that you'll need to purchase
a full membership.

Sorry to hear but I experienced the same problem in the past until figuring out that you need to actually have gold to add on with trials.

you need to buy the gold subscription trials dont work for everything.

Er...my question is that a 'xbox game pass ultimate 14 days trial codes' could be used/sold as 'xbox game pass 14 days trial code' or 'xbox gold live 14 days trial code', right?

I understand that a xbox game pass 14 days trial code or a xbox live gold 14 days trial code can't be used/sold as xbox game pass ultimate 14 days trial code for sure.

Because a 'xbox games pass ultimate 14 days trial code' equals a 'xbox game pass 14 days trial code + xbox live gold 14 days trial code', so for new Microsoft/Xbox accounts, a 'xbox game pass ultimate 14 days trial codes' could be used/sold as 'xbox game
pass 14 days trial code' or 'xbox gold live 14 days trial code' , right?

Please help to clarify.

if u buy a xbox console then u will get given a 14 day free trial but xbox dont give away 14 days free trial for xbox live gold

that is why unable to get the backward compatible games. They will not work with the 14 day trial unfortunately. In this link

describing Xbox live gold there is a section explains the trials.

With an Xbox Live Gold 2- to 14-day trial, you can get Xbox One Games with Gold, and discounted Gold deals.

If it was a one month trial you could get the backward compatible games.
