Xbox live 1 month free trial issues

Hello,

I turned on my Xbox One today for the first time in a while and noticed that i had a "try gold for free" offer on my dashboard. It has been a couple years since I had gold, but I figured I would give it a try. When I click on the offer however it just
takes me to the page to buy xbox live for the regular price.

I also noticed i have a message from xbox live saying "hey! just a reminder, you are eligible for a free one month trial to Gold. Don't forget to take advantage of this great offer! select the "launch app" button to get started." But when i select launch
app the same thing happens where it asks me to pay for it.

Why is it offering it to me for free but then asking me to pay for it? do I have a free trial offer or not?

Xbox live gold free trial canceled if I enter code for xbox live gold?

so I'm eligible for free Xbox live gold for 1 month. I got 3 months of Xbox live gold for Christmas but my question is if I enter the code for 3 months of Xbox live gold will it cancel me being able to use free Xbox live gold trial for 1 month?

By the way, I did not use the trial yet.
