Xbox limitations

I recently verified my microsoft account age proving to be an adult and on xbox I still cannot do certain things such as change the profile picture to custom and in-game I am limited. If wondering, the game I am having issues with would be Forza Horizon
4. More specifically I cannot use the auction house or apply custom tunes to my cars. It says it is blocked by xbox parental settings.

Sorry to hear it. Currently you are showing as having only a Silver membership for your account. If you believe that you should have a Gold membership then please log in to commerce.microsoft.com and click on Services & Subscriptions. It will show what
type of membership you have and when it would expire (Gold only).

If you have a Gold membership that you just recently added then please go to Settings>System>Network and run a Connection Test. This will log your gamertag out. When you log back in it should be working.

If you believe you should have a Gold membership but it does not show it then you should give phone support a call for further assistance. If you live in North America dial 1-800-469-9269

*PLEASE NOTE: If you have a trial membership it only gives some access to Live services and usually will not work with ranked features of games.

 

The problem is this Just because you changed the Date of birth on the MS account does not mean it was changed on the Xbox profile.

When a MS account is first setup that is the Date of Birth that the Xbox profile goes by and can not be changed.

If your Date of birth when the account was originally setup is now over 18 and are still having these problems you would then need to sign into the parental account at account.microsoft.com/family and remove yourself from the family which will then put you
into your own family as an adult which should clear up your problems.

IF your Date of Birth when the account was originally setup is under 18 still and you remove yourself from the family you will not be able to do anything until added to a family as a child account.

 

check your settings on config--->privacy and settings and edit your settings

 

My account is not in a family. If I put it in one would a different adult account be able to change my xbox account's privacy? I am not sure what date of birth this account originally had but it must not be 18 yet. And in general are there any ways to remove
these parental limitations. If I join a family can it be promoted by someone?

If you are trying to set a custom gamer pic then you would have to wait till the DOB when the account was originally setup reaches its 18th birthday.

What the previous poster is talking about is instructed in the following link:

He means configuration so you can see how your account is set up, but it might not matter if your age is set under 18. It cannot be changed.

You would need to wait or start a new account.
