    Xbox lightning surge


    Lightning surge hit our house and now my Xbox doesn't work. I've tried several electrical outputs an I think my Xbox is fried.

    I live in Hong Kong, can anyone recommend to me if there is a place where I can bring my Xbox or if I should throw it away and buy a new one (preferably not)

    Note: I dunno if "accessibility" is the correct category for this post, but I couldn't find one for hardware issues (not TV networking).

    Lightning just fried my Xbox One

    Lightning is way more powerful than a power surge especially a direct hit . Sorry to hear it happend.

    GG power surges dont work. my uncle has the same and he lost his tv in a lightning storm once lol

    Xbox lightning surge

    First, unplug the power supply for 10 seconds and plug it back in (unplug both ends during this) to reset the internal surge protection.

    If that doesn't work your console may be damaged from the lightning strike as the surge protection does not protect from high energy strikes from lighting.

    You can do an out of warranty repair for around $135 USD here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/devices     Register your console with the serial number and "start a service order" and follow the instructions for a repair.

    Sounds like a surge happenrd

    Electronicd don't suddenly pop except during lightning storms.or unseen surge which would.be a bad power source or a brown out or a sudden surge of power

    This is usually coveted by your home owners insurance

    I live in Florida - when it comes to lightning, I don't take chances. All of my entertainment devices are hooked up to a backup battery supply and surge protector. :)
