    Xbox LI-ION Battery Model 1727 faulty and will not hold a charge


    I have three of the model 1727 battery and none of them will charge or hold a charge. I purchased two of the three brand new w/the official USB-C cable. I have three Xbox Series X/S controllers w/current firmware installed. I've tried different USB ports, reseating the batteries, swapping batteries into different controllers, and connecting the controller to my Xbox One X.......same result.

    Contacted Microsoft support to resolve but I am outside the warranty window. I know rechargeable batteries can go bad but explain how the one purchased in April 2021 is already bad? No way in just over a year three LI-ION batteries have exceeded their lifespan or gone bad. The odds of that are astronomical. Super disappointed nothing could be done as I was told to go back to the retailer for hopefully a replacement. I know that won't happen because I'm over the one-year window. If anyone has any insight, I'd greatly appreciate it but, in the meantime, I'm moving on to a different brand/build quality.

    You didn't mention if you have a Microsoft li-ion rechargable battery in it? It's called play&charge kit. If you have that 3-4 hours should be enough. Otherwise it will never charge because regular rechargable batteries need to be charged inside a dedicated
    charger.

    Why do Xbox wireless controllers still require batteries?

    The PS4 DualShock controller has a 1000 mAh Li-Ion rechargable battery inside, which is why you charge it with a cable.

    As to why Xbox doesn't have intergrated battery instead of the options now, i don't know.

    PS4 DS also uses Bluetooth tech and Xbox uses WiFi tech (new controllers should support both i believe).

    Basically, both uses battery.

    Most lithium ion batteries, like those in your game controllers, should be unplugged when they reach maximum capacity.

    The battery technology is ideal when the battery is between 20 and 80% full. Keeping the battery on the charger when it is at 100% can negatively impact the overall lifetime of the battery’s ability to hold a charge.

    Never good when your controller won't turn on! Lets make sure that you have fresh batteries in the controller, and they're seated properly! If you're using a Xbox One Li-Ion Rechargeable battery, make sure its also sitting how it should in the controller.

    If everything is all set in there, try using a different micro USB cable to charge! Go ahead and plug the controller into your Xbox One, and hold on the Xbox button on your controller to see if it starts flashing.
    If not, hold down on the sync button on both the controller and the Xbox One.

    And if that can't solve your problem, reply back to me and I'll pass along the information about the warranty process!
