Xbox letters on virtual keyboard not working

Ah, the batteries... Running out when it's about as convenient as tripping on the stairs while you're holding a pile of books or something. There's the Xbox Play and Charge Kits, I suppose...

I also notice some glitches when I'm navigating through menus where the selection skips options and it can be hard to land on the option I actually want. I've also noticed that when selecting text on the virtual keyboard for passwords or chat that after I make the first letter selection, the curser then continues to jump to the upper left hand corner and it's impossible to get to any letters on the lower portion of the keyboard. The only way to avoid this is to select a number first to avoid it providing autofill text options and then the curser works to continue to select any letters I want.

To be able to help you out, we need to gather some more information. First, what Xbox console do you have, and also, have you tried to perform a full factory reset on your console?

It will work straight away for text input during messaging and the likes.

Every time the Xbox would show a virtual keyboard on the screen for text input, the keyboard will work.

As for games, the game has to be specifically made to support keyboards.

Not all games are able to use keyboards.

For example Fortnite and Minecraft are popular examples for games that work with an USB Keyboard and USB mouse.
