Xbox latency tied to Windows laptop turning on.

I have noticed an issue with my latency. When my windows laptop is on the network, my xbox has 25-45 ms latency. When my laptop is on and connected to the internet my latency spike and holds at 350-650ms ping on a wired connection.

My laptop is connected via WiFi. Any ideas what could be causing the issue and how to fix it?

Ive tried power cycling, firewall changes, port forwarding, etc.

your computer probably is consuming your internet bandwidth

possible reason might be that:

1. your computer is infected

2. your computer is downloading stuff in background

3. your computer is running 1 or more application that consume bandwidth

what you can do is use the task manager to determinate what is saturating your connection

laptops have a hdmi for output only so you could not use the laptop screen directly, but you can stream the xbox to the windows 10 xbox app but you will have latency and poorer resolution to boot.

The vast majority of laptop HDMI connectors are output only, their function is to send the laptop's display to external display, such as monitor, TV or a projector. It only goes one way.

An external capture device can receive your Xbox output and display it in Windows, but there is a big downside to this method, latency. The capture device still has to process the image before sending it to the PC which in turn causes a slight delay.

Sure, you'll get your console displayed on your laptop this way, but it won't be anything like being connected it to a dedicated display.
