Xbox Kinect dead?

Yeah, until VR can be controlled by brain waves ala James Camerons Avatar movie, only games with very limited motions such as piloting a vehicle would be able to pull it off effectively IMO.

2. I've been using Kinect successfully so far in Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Battlefield 4, Peggle 2, Rayman Legends, & Ryse Son of Rome - & those are all mainstream games that are no worse off with the Kinect's features (& there are likely more that
I haven't mentioned). In fact, most of them are better because they add a whole new interactive layer to the game that simply wasn't possible before it existed (at least as accurately). To top it all off, almost all of those features are optional - you don't
have to use them if you don't want to!

Personally, I think that's largely what separates the good from the bad when it comes to the Kinect. Games that integrate it in some fashion still work well, if not better altogether. On the other hand, games that REQUIRE the Kinect sensor are never as good
because it limits your options & how you can play. In any case, the quality of the games, regardless of whether the Kinect is a part of its features, is always going to be up to the developers. For example, Fighter Within is an absolutely horrific Kinect game
by all accounts, but Kinect Sports Rivals and Xbox Fitness are both actually pretty good all-around and I would encourage anyone to try them out if they haven't already.

...and that's not even talking about the absolutely amazing voice commands that are incredibly convenient & easy to use for navigation - I can instantly turn on my console, my TV, my cable box, and my sound system all simultaneously with only 2 words ("Xbox
On"); I can also instantly turn it all off in 3 words ("Xbox Turn Off"); plus, I can instantly go to any digital app or game I purchase (with the "go to" voice commands). While viewing my media, I can use the voice commands to play, pause, stop, rewind, fast-forward,
skip back, skip ahead, turn the volume up or down or even mute it. I don't know about you, but I think that's what I would call useful. In fact, there's a popular phrase I hear quite a bit: "Work smarter, not harder." That's exactly what the Kinect gives you.

Gamers that ignore the wonderful things that the Kinect can bring their way by either not using it or going the Kinectless route are, IMO, doing themselves a disservice and missing out on a wonderful feature that changes the playing field of games and other
interactive entertainment considerably.

3. If the Kinect can detect your pulse and eye movements and body heat they need to do a detective game where you play a bank robber and have to lie to interrogators. That would be interesting to see if kinect is really any good at reading those things or if
its all hype.If you get caught lying you go to jail.It would teach you how to avoid getting caught.lol

What about the new Dance Central game (whatever it's called)?

What about it? Is it kinect only? For sure. Is it any good? Remains to be seen. Judging by the preview trailer it look like more of the same. Will it live up to previous games? Probably. I like dance central better than just dance for the menu navigation
with kinect. Basing my opinion on dance central 1-2 vs just dance 4. JD4 menu navigation was abysmal. One thing I like about JD4 is the amount of interactivity with other players. But for me It'll be one or the pther as the song lists will be largely the same.

I love my Kinect and all the games on 360. Especially I like that sport programs like Kinect Sports and especially my personal trainer Nike+ Kinect training.

But watch the signs.

When I change over to XBox One, I will loose the ability to continue play all my good 360 Kinect titles. Only a handful of Kinect games are available for Xbox One today.

Kinect isn't anymore an essential part of Xbox One. Dropping Kinect is good for XBox One sales, but bad for innovation and motivation. Developers can't be sure anymore, that XBox One is coupled with Kinect and this results in less support for it.

On E3 only two games for Kinect announced. This is like nothing, sorry. Not only one blockbuster title with Kinect support. Bad future....?

Casual games or out, the big hype of such games is over. Most gamers want to shoot or drive with a regular controller. There are many interesting things that can do with a technology like Kinect, but only of interest of a minority. Most gamers don't want
to jump in front of a camera or don't have a big enough room for it.

All current MS marketing strategies for XBox are without mention of the Kinect technology.

I'm from Germany (sorry for some language problems), and many of our press E3 reports consider Kinect as dead.

My comment was in direct response to this comment:
At the last E3 no new games arrived with usage of the Kinect sensor.
Whether the game is good or if it's terrible is besides the point. My point was that the OP said that there were no Kinect games shown at E3, and I gave an example as to why that was wrong.

I guess I missunderstood. I thought he meant no new titles. I guess DC spotlight is a new game even if it is a sequel. I would like to see new things tried with the Kinect as well as smartglass. I had an idea for a golf sim. Put your phone or tablet on
the floor. Kinect sees you place your ball and its right there on your phone. Now you can adjust your stance in relation to the ball. Also you can clearly see how the ball lies. You may land in a bunker and get buried or sit on top of the sand. It also allows
you to put your head down the way youre supposed to in real golf. Take your swing and then look up. Just an idea.

Personally, I'd like to see Smartglass being utilized more than what it is. As for Kinect, I prefer using it in conjuction of the controller (voice commands, head tracking, etc), rather than a Kinect only game.

12. Yeah, doubt it'll be discontinued, at least not yet, but lets face it, Kinect isn't a hit. Can anyone name a great game that utilizes it full on? As in game that was made for it and turned out good? I can't think of any. The only thing I've seen it used
for is hacks on the PC.

Xbox Kinect dead?

This is true. Motion games need to feel natural. Kinect sports does ok most of the time but not across all events. Some games would have the potential to do really well. Especially if we could input our own base motion. While I think it would still be limited
to mini games or arcade style games, I see no reason why it couldnt have a few hits within those genres. I mean who says mini games cant be fun. Be it as a compilation or individual sport downloads. I hope they add individual sports personally. Generally
I think people who enjoy Kinect games are either very young (children) or older folks who arent really into gaming. Personal observation is they seem to have an easier time adjusting to it than people who are used to having a controller in thier hands. Unfortunately
its very difficult to have an epic game with a huge story designed solely around motion gaming. Arcade style shooters can be done. Some sports titles can be done. Maybe moto gp. But I doubt we'll ever see 40 or50 hours of gameplay for Kinect. I still love
it and I think replayability counts for more than scale. Other than that I think the potential is there for Kinect use in conjunction with a controller for large AAA games. Hopefully developers decide to use it.

Just Dance on Xbox Series X

Considering the Kinect doesn't work with the Xbox One X without the use of an adapter (which Microsoft no longer makes), I highly doubt Microsoft will suddenly make it work with the Xbox Series X.

Kinect is dead and should stay dead, it was a terrible idea for the Xbox One and its still a terrible idea.

Will/Should Xbox Kinectless come with voice commands?

If Microsoft allows users to use voice commands without a Kinect then that's it for the Kinect, it's basically dead. The main selling point of the Kinect is voice commands.

I have an Xbox One and I have my Kinect plugged in. I use the Kinect whenever my Xbox One is turned on because for the most part it's quicker and easier navigating the UI with my voice.
