    Xbox Kinect dead?

I read in press that MS will discontinue Kinect.

At the last E3 no new games arrived with usage of the Kinect sensor.

    What about these rumors?

I'm think about to buy a Xbox One with Kinect, because I'm very happy with 360 and Kinect. But at the moment I don't see any reason to buy XOne, because there are no game titles for Kinect today and only a few on the horizon for future.

    Is Kinect dead?

    :)

    Kinect types and versions

As far as i am aware there is kinect for xbox 360 and kinect for xbox one. I refer to mine as a day one kinect for xbone and assume others refer to v2 as kinect for xbox one rather than 360. Afaik the original kinect released with xbone is the current version

  6. I don't think the Kinect is dead, or will be dying anytime soon. I don't think there will be many Kinect-only games this year or the next, but I like my Kinect. Makes my experience with the Xbox One that little bit easier.

    Xbox Kinect dead?

In the E3 xbox presentation there was one kinect title, in the ubisoft presentation there was two kinect games, there are a number of indie kinect games coming out, so it not dead.

Someone made a good point in another thread, if you don't have anything special to show off about it, they it might be best not mentioning it, then when you have some solid to show, make the most of it, I am hoping they are waiting to make the most of it.

in the E3 press conference there was 2 titles, Fantasia and Dance Central, Kinect has its uses and is far from dead, they will be releasing it as an accessory around November.

I think developers need to do something really crazy like.... come up with new ideas. OMG! Rehashing Dance Central games is all well and good, but if Kinect is going to "take off", it needs to be integrated into gameplay somehow. Something that utilizes
    the controller and the Kinect.

  11. You know, i like the kinect. Not for the pure movement based kinect games, but for it's voice functionality and subtle and sometimes good interaction in games that are controller based.

I would love it if a pure kinect game comes and blows me away, but for now i wouldn't be without it simply for the voice functionality both in and out of games.

And as mentioned before, it's really up to developers to create something awesome. It's a tool for them to use.

I saw some awesome stuff that people created with the kinect v1 hooked up to a pc, so the possibilities are there. Just not utilized.

Guess the future will show what is to come.

I think another 12 months, I do think it will take some indie developers to do something that will spark use of the kinect, but I do think that games should have a lot more voice and motion controls that no one seems interested in.

    Xbox Kinect dead?

As a fan of Kinect I am hopeful to see more games that utilize it well. For the 360 some games were fantastic and others fell really short. Some games detection and tracking were spot on but menu navigation was awful and frustrating. However I do belive
that some of the problems of the 360 kinect as well as the one kinect lie in poor or no user calibration. Its not really a plug in and play periferal. Also feel some problems lie within the games themselves and not really the device. Hopefully the more developers
utilize it, the better the games will get. I thought sports rivals did an ok job. Wouldve liked to have seen some other sports like volleyball and be able to play two on two over xbox live, but the rock climbing was surprisingly fun. The shooting should have
let you pull the trigger some how, even if it used voice to say bang bang would have been better than the automatic fire they came up with. Forza uses the head tracking which I like. Pretty cool to lean into turns, but again thats something that needs to be
calibrated and chances are you wont get it just right on the first try. Google Kinect enabled games and you may find things that surprise you. Killer Instinct surprised me.

Useful? Maybe. Depends. I could see VR really being utilized in driving games. I think an FPS would be a little to frantic plus I can imagine myself getting motion sick when my brain can't line up what I'm seeing with what my body is actually doing. But
a game with limited body movement yeah I'd buy that. A flight sim would really be cool. All in all I think VR is best for having an experience ( flight, roller coasters, outer space, etc.) Rather than playing games. Not so much being in control but enjoying
the ride. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of VR. I'm just not convinced yet that it can be applied to games in a practical manner. Want a VR football game? Call up your friends and go outside. Lol
