Xbox Kinect Adapter for Xbox One S and Windows 10 PC

Hello,

I have an Xbox One (an original one, not an S) and the Kinect V2 sensor that it came with. I purchased the Kinect adapter because I wanted to be able to locate the Kinect further away from my console (I recently moved it into an equipment cabinet).

When I plug the Kinect sensor directly into the dedicated port on the back of my Xbox console everything works fine. However, when I plug it into my Xbox via the adapter (and the provided cables) I get some odd behavior.

Most things seem to work - on the dashboard it shows the Kinect icon by the clock, the voice commands work, and Dance Central Spotlight seems to be working.

However, when I go to Kinect in the settings it doesn't recognize that the Kinect is plugged in. I've tried doing hard shutdowns of the Xbox, unplugging both the Xbox and the Kinect from power, and different USB ports - but none of it made a difference.

I'd like to get the Kinect settings to work so that I can calibrate the mic... any suggestions?

The Kinect adapter for the Xbox One S will also work with the Xbox One X, I don't know where country you are in but I have just checked and Amazon in the UK and US both seem to be showing it as in stock with Amazon as the seller hopefully this is useful

Kinect Adapter - production discontinued

Looks like they're available on eBay for $70~.

Or more like $40 on Amazon.

Those are for the U.S., but I'm sure there's others available too.

 

Not sure why it's not showing up in the Kinect settings. Though it's probably just because it's not connected to the proprietary port. Maybe a firmware update could fix it but whether it's a big enough issue, or they really know about it is another matter.

All I can suggest is you move your console to within reach of the Kinect and do the mic setup with it connected to the proprietary port. That should calibrate it for when it's connected via the adapter.
