Xbox keeps freezing/black-screening

Hello

I have an xbox 360 slim, and have had it since december 2012, with a separate 320gb harddrive and I have recently purchased and started playing halo 4. During the campaign, my game suddenly froze. The sound was still going, but they seemed mostly idle sounds.
I gave it a few minutes, but nothing changed and I restarted my xbox, to find that it had removed at least some of the cache data pertaining to halo 4. I figured it was a one-time error, but soon after, during the same mission, my screen turned black. Again
I could hear some sounds, but the in-game processes such as the AI seemed to once again have stopped.

I gave the xbox 360 a few hours rest before trying again, which once again resulted in a freeze. I cleared the xbox 360 hard drive's cache, but this did not fix the problem either. Following that, I removed the harddrive entirely and booted the system up
once again. Again, it froze. I tried a different game, thinking that the error might lie with the game, so I tried to play gears of war 3, but this game also froze.

As you might imagine I am beginning to get rather desperate, as my last xbox (a white premium xbox 360, which had red ringed twice) has taught me how expensive it was to repair my console. I am not sure of what to do. Is there any way to fix this myself?
Is this a known issue? Or will I be forced to wait until I can afford to send this xbox in for repairs as well?

My Xbox keeps black screening after the green "Xbox One" screen.

My Xbox keeps black screening after the green "Xbox One" screen. All the wires are plugged on both ends. I'm using a VGA adapter(T.V.'s HDMI port doesn't work).

similar issue except when I start the tv app snapped or unsnapped my whole xbox freeezes and restarts

 

some information I forgot to mention: it's worth noting that these freezes are something that has started happening rather suddenly today. Yesterday and the day before I played halo 4 on the same xbox with no issues whatsoever, nor has this particular xbox
have a history of freezing. This is something entirely new that started happening today.

This may be your Xbox's hardware failing

If this is the case You need to have it repaired

You should try Resetting your XBOX by doing the steps below

1.Turn on Xbox

2.When turning on Xbox do not release your finger from the power button

3.Hold your finger there for 10 seconds exactly your Xbox lights should light up 1 by 1

This might work but it also might not

BTW

Your display settings will reset.
