Xbox keeps crashing and shutting off

Thank you for the reply. After trying some of the suggestions, asking friends if they have experienced the same thing, and doing some testing of my own. I believe the problem was my external hard drive. Games on the internal hard drive were not having problems while the ones on the external were having problems. I am not sure if the issues have been resolved just by moving games off the external hard drive as it is too soon to tell.

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps here:

After each step try to see if the issue is fixed!

First, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, until the console shuts off, then unplug the power cord and wait for 2-3 minutes before plugging it back in and turn on the Xbox.

If the issue persists, please select System > Settings > General > Network setting > Advanced settings > Alternate MAC address: clear

Then, please select System > Settings > devices and streaming > blue ray > persistent storage > clear three times > restart console.

If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps

If you are still having the same issue, it’s possible that the local save for the game has become corrupted. If so, deleting the local save and re-syncing with the cloud might correct the problem.
First, delete the local save:
1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide and then select My games & apps > See all > Games.
2. Highlight the game title, and then press the Menu button  on your controller.
3. Select Manage game and add-ons > Saved data.
4. Select Delete all to remove the local save of this game, then follow the prompts.
After you delete the local save, restart your Xbox:
1. Press and hold the Xbox button  in the center of your controller.
2. Select Restart console, then follow the prompts.
After you restart your Xbox, re-sync your saved games to the cloud. Your saved games are automatically stored in the cloud while you’re connected to Xbox Live.
Try playing the game again to see if re-syncing with the cloud corrected the game problem.

THIS guide out, it will explain what the causes are for consoles that unexpectedly shut down, as well as how to try and resolve it. However, it does sound as though you need to send your console in for a paid repair, sorry. You can request a repair using
the service center, HERE. Be sure to double check that you have followed everything through, in the above guide before requesting a repair. Just to be sure.

This could be a simple fix or could turn into something more complicated. Before going to get the power supply checked you should check the connections with it e.g. check the plug is in the socket correctly or if using a multi-plug check that as well. The
red light means there has been a fault and its there to protect the Xbox. If all connections are solid then take the power supply and Xbox to be checked

It's either a heating issue or a hardware issue. It could also be the plug in, in the xbox itself. I'm currently having the same issue with my X. I cant play minecraft on 4k, I cant play 7 days to die while hosting a game, and the division 2 disc wont
read half the time. They all hard reset my console. I would try calling Microsoft about your warranty or getting it fixed.
