Xbox issues - Can't download games/Games Freezing?

As per freaking usual, my 360 decides to have all these issues around Christmas time... so, I was hoping someone might have some tips or at least be able to point me in the right direction.

So i have a 360 slim, it's kinda slow in the head but I think it gets the job done alright but I can't pinpoint why these recent new issues are happening:

The first issue I've had several times now is when I attempt to play Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare online. To be specific, I'll load up the game, then sign in. Select XBL, then once I'm in the main lobby, my brother also signs in. (Which seems to take forever
and a day anymore). Once he's finally sign in, we select a mode and find a lobby. The game finds a match as usual, but it will throw us in the middle of a game, and the entire Xbox freezes during the current maps loading screen. So then, I'm forced to manually
restart my Xbox.

Well, after several attempts, it did the exact samething in the exact same spot. Finally out of frustration, I just threw in Mass Effect and was going to play something offline and figured it may have been some game or internet issue. Well, come to find
out even Mass Effect froze up, and once I tried that again I about had a heart attack when it treated it as though I never even played it before and couldn't resume my game. That's when I knew something was definitely up with the Xbox itself.

Now, it's worked alright since, and my saves are all good. But thats quite a hiccup... one I definitely don't want to just ignore.

So now, we come around to the latest issue... browsing some of the recent deals for Xbox, I decided to purchase and download Skate 3 for the hell of it. Well, 5 bucks later, here I am with no Skate 3 and a message saying "Can't download Skate 3" pops up.
Like, it won't even attempt it and I wasn't even playing a game to interrupt the download. I'm sitting at the dashboard.

So, halp?!

Keep getting this message when trying to download games on Xbox 360, had no issues before and no issues downloading updates for games. Can't download Tomb Raider or any other previously purchased games. Tried the troubleshoot of clearing cache opening
ports etc. Any suggestions?

Also, after deleting the content and before clearing the system cache, you might want to clear the marketplace cache under System Items (marketplace data and rights database).

Try simplifying the setup if possible and wire into the modem (not really applicable if using a wireless modem/gateway).
