XBOX is saying it's connected to the internet but not updating.

My Xbox says update faild when I connect to internet and it shows a x on Xbox live please rally

okay... here are the steps I've done to try to make this thing work.

1. I put the downloaded file on my usb key from a PC computer

2. I unplug my internet connection and I turn on my xbox and clear the system cache like you said by left bumper right bumper x left bumper right bumper x

3. while the system is restarting I plug in the USB key and when it boots up it says "?Update Required To proceed, security and program updates are required. System updates will be aded to ensure security and proper functionality. If you decline, you will
be returned to Xbox Dashboard. Do you want to accept the update?"

4. I click yes

5. Update in Progress box pops up and it extracts the file.

6. System restarts and boots up to home/welcome screen (whatever it's called).

7. Plug back in internet cord and wait a couple minutes...

8. Try to connect to Xbox Live

9. it says "Update Failed. A system update is required to sign in to Xbox LIVE, but the update is currently unavailable. If the problem persists, visit www.xbox.com/support."

10. I test the Xbox live connection and it says Network is connected and Internet is connected but when it tests Xbox LIVE connection says "Update Failed A system update is required to sign in to Xbox LIVE, but the update is currently unavailable. If the
problem persists, visit www.xbox.com/support."

11. I click "OK"

12. It says "Test Failed There's a problem with your connection. Select More Info for a description of the problem and how you can fix it."

13. I click more info.

14. It says "Your console is connected to the Internet but can't contact Xbox LIVE.

then lists steps to perform to fix. First one is restarting my modem/router.

I didn't do any of these steps because they are clearly not the problem! My internet connection and network is fine!

Yea, I'm getting 100% packet loss. Test internet connection says connected to internet and everything is good. Test MP connection says can't finish multiplier test. The advanced test says 100% packet loss. Surely not my network. Tried hard wired, wireless
and the hotspot from my phone. All internet test via xbox work, but MP fails.. This is getting old.. Idc what the "service status says" they're always slow updating that.

Hi Unbeatable95 I suggest doing the update when you have broadband internet from a network provider dont put the update on a USB nor a disk im just saying just to get internet first and connecting to Xbox live and then do your update.
