Xbox is not seeing my wireless network unless manually enter name

Every time I turn on the Xbox, it will not automatically connect to the WiFi. Modem and router are fine. When I navigate to "set up wireless network" there are no networks visible. When I enter the network name manually, it connects right away without me even having to put in a password. This is really annoying. Any fixes?

This did not work.

As mentioned the modem is fine. All other WiFi devices in house work great.

I have to manually enter the name of the WiFi network. Once I do it picks it up and only then do other networks become discoverable.

Try this procedure, hope it helps: Unplug the power cable from the back of the modem. After a minute, plug the modem back in and wait for all the lights to return to normal. Turn on the console. Retest your Xbox connection (Profile & System > Settings > General > Network Settings > Test Network Connection).

Do you have any other wireless devices that DO connect to your wireless network? I'm just wondering if perhaps on your router if you've disabled the SSID broadcast, nothing will see it unless you manually enter in all the information.

Maybe give that a look?

That's my first thought if you cant even see your network in a scan....

the name of his network will not show up in the list of available networks to anyone-not even his own console will be able to find it unless he manually types in the name of his network,the encryption type and the secret passphrase.sounds like the hacker
lives close enough to pick up a wireless signal.
