Xbox is loud in sleep mode

I have seen this posted before but none of the answers are acceptable.

When I turn my Xbox off (put into "sleep mode") it is really loud. Not just a quiet buzz...if I had to sleep in the same room as the console I would go nuts.

Many have stated that its the power brick fan and the only way to void it is to fully power off the xbox, which in my opinion kills one of the best features, "instant on" and downloading updates.

With that being said, I am very sure that my issue is not a power brick fan. I have held my ear up to the console and it definitely is coming from the console, as if its a hard drive spinning.

Yeah, I've got a 6 month old and they generally sleep easily with a lot of loud noise. The noise that the woman's body makes to the baby while pregnant is louder than a vacuum to that fetus, so newborns generally like a lot of noise to help them sleep.

turning off external hard drive

when in sleep mode external hard drive does not turn off.my question is, is it safe to unplug the hard drive when xbox one in sleep mode ?does this run the risk of damaging the drive or anything stored on it?

I am sorry to hear that your console is making a loud noise. Do you know if your XBOX One is downloading updates and writing to the hard drive? Or is it making the noise every time it enters sleep mode? Or is it the fan?

If the beep sound you're hearing is very slight and can only be heard when you're very close to the console, especially when it's configured in "Sleep" mode, it's possible that the sound is related to activity on the internal hard drive. When the console is in "Sleep" mode, it may be running background processes, and the hard drive could have some activity during that time.

It would be a good idea to check if this sound occurs only in "Sleep" mode or if it also happens when the console is in "Energy-saving" mode.

As long as the sound is not loud, not too frequent, and you don't have any performance problems or other issues with your console, you have nothing to worry about.

Had the same issue with the same cable box and I did a master power cycle.....router/cable box/xbox....basically the whole power strip......wait 5 mins......power everything up.....go to xbox settings and disable sleep mode......dont let the xbox one go
to sleep....this is the problem.....it sleeps and when it wakes.....it studders with the cable signal. might be due to cable box sleep mode after inactivity. both sleep modes causes this problem. so just disable that and you should be ok. haven't had
one issue after this.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

I don't believe there is an option to prevent sleep mode during downloads because the laptop should not enter sleep mode if a download is running in the background. It seems counterproductive that the device would go to sleep mode and stop a download when
you are not using the device to allow the download to complete.

I think the best thing to do is to adjust your sleep settings so that your laptop takes longer to go into sleep mode but you are not disabling it completely. You can mange those settings from the following link: How
