    Xbox iOS app crashes when Network Extension API enabled


    If iOS device has app using Network Extension APIs enabled, Xbox app will crash immediately on launch. Unable to capture any useful information in iOS device log (only app started then terminated in a second) nor do I notice any crash log.

    Xbox iOS app crashes on startup

    Every time when I open the Xbox iOS app, it crashes. It makes the app completely unaccessable.

    Please fix this major bug!

    Crashing every time when VPN is Running

    Basically, if I open Xbox App while a Network Extension based VPN App (I use Surge - Web Developer Tool and Proxy Utility) is running, the Xbox App will crash. But if launch Xbox app first then the Surge, everything will be fine.

    I'm not a tech guy so I'm not sure where the problem is, maybe it is Network Extension causes this because some other VPN Apps which do not use the Network Extension like VyprVPN works fine with Xbox app, or maybe the Xbox App is just incompatible with Surge.

    I live in China, the network quality here is not always good due to some reasons, you know. A tool like Surge is very helpful. Wish you can fix it, thanks a lot.

    Starting XBOX app on PC will automatically start the EA app as well

    I did something that seems to have solved it, hopefully it will help you too.

    When you open the Xbox App, click on your avatar at the top left corner, that should bring the drop-down menu, then click on Settings.

    In Settings, go to Extensions, then check if the EA App is enabled, if it is then click on Disable Extension.

    In my case, it hasn't auto-loaded with the Xbox App after I did that.

    Having the same issue myself.

    Xbox app on iOS 12.2 (iPhone XS), crashes upon the Microsoft account login screen. Have submitted the crash report, so fingers crossed..!
