    Instant on - daft question....

    Got both Xbox's set to Instant On, from what I'm reading startup should be around 2 seconds.

    I assume this is from standby, i.e. you've used the Xbox, turned it off and then later on you turn it back on? If for any reason the power is turned off then turned back on and later in the day you power up the Xbox should it still be in it's 'instant on'
    state or will it do a cold boot (about 45 seconds)?

    Basically my wife goes round the house and turns everything off at the plug hence my question Xbox instant on question :)

    Instant on - daft question....

    If you remove the power, it will boot with the green splash screen, it will go through the boot process, it will "cold" boot as you say. You need to leave the PSU plugged into line voltage and into the console to keep instant on available.

    So My console is set to instant on. As long as you power down the console first...either by controller or by pressing the white touch button on the front...its fine to kill the power from the lead etc. We have many power cuts and its never corrupted my unit.

    Yeah , I mean they tell you not to do things like that , but the electric goes off and flickers all the time so I wouldn't worry about it...

    Yeah, I usually keep the console on energy saving most of the time. But I only did it once so would my console be okay.

    Yanking the plug while it is "instant on" is probably like yanking the plug on your PC while it is in "sleep mode"....probably not a good idea , but probably wont make it explode either...it should be turned off be fore the power is removed though ...or
    don't use instant on , I like mine to fresh boot when I'm gona play anyway...
