    Xbox Installing Game Instead Of Update


    Basically what happened is...earlier I put my BF4 in it asked me for a update. If eventually reached 98% and starting asking me to install a game. I refused and tried to install the update, but it started installing BF4. I'm starting to stress about it
    and worried I will lose all my progress. It lets me view my campaign missions, but it says I have 0% in each of them. So I'm worried it will also effect my multiplayer. Please Help!!!!!! Cow

    Have you tried installing the game while offline? That way when you sign in it will only install the updates, instead of installing the game and updates at the same time. I am not sure this will help, but I have heard of others working it this way when they
    had similar problems and it seemed to work for them.

    Downloads / Record Game Clip

    My games installed in an average of 15 minutes. It's recommended you just leave your console installing the game and downloading updates for it instead of multitasking during that time. Goes faster I guess.

    BF4 taking over 7 hours to get to 12% installation

    The reason it take forever to install is because the install % also includes the download % of the update, x1 games updates are gigs instead of the 360's megs.

    Xbox One Instant On VS Energy Saving and External HDD

    If You have your Xbox set to 'Instant On' then all system and game updates will download and install automatically. Meaning no more waiting to play games while updates download/install.

    System updates will install but may need you to press the power on button instead of saying 'Xbox On'.

    I have my external storage turned off while my Xbox is off. I've never noticed and speed differences with it being off.

    Hello Awesome,

    This has also happened to me some too, when the game goes to update it reinstalls the whole game. Only thing I can think is why they do this is the update is throughout the game instead of just certain parts. So instead it just installs the complete thing.
    For example Fallout 76 said needed update soon as I started the update, it then proceeded to install full game.

    When you install a game DISCONNECT from the internet.

    It will install the game instead of installing the game AND applying all your updates at the same time.

    It makes a very noticeable difference for install times.

    Once you've a few games loaded then you can always play something while an update loads.
