Xbox Insider/Preview Hidden Fee

How do I get out of this poor excuse of a service? After being charged a sales tax that my brother was not charged for I got curious & asked why. After hours of bull crap & run around I find out I am in the Xbox Preview program. I learn that years ago my
account somehow got involved in the preview program on the Xbox 360. Since then Microsoft has added actual hidden fees that don't show up till you check out your bank statement! Obviously I tell the support rep that I want out. He informs ,me that I have to
download & install an app called the Insider to opt out, only when I finally get in it only gives me the option to "Join"... Not opt out. After another hour he informs me that I joined the Preview program on the Xbox 360, so the only way to get out is to go
to the 360 (which I no longer own) & figure out how to opt out there... Microsoft Rep told me to "figure it out"! And until I do, said sales tax will apply to all my purchases, a tax that doesn't show up on my recent purchases, only on my bank statement. Surely
this cannot be legal, & if it is, surely there is another way to opt out of this Hidden Fee Program.

Official Xbox Magazine Forum is Gone?

Well they were hidden within the Inside Xbox Forum and since Inside xbox has been scrapped im guessing there forums were removed

sales tax isn't a hidden fee

It has always been applied at point of purchase

This is like any other service

One it's the law you pay sales tax even on Internet purchases

Two it's not showing because it's together

So if you a game it's already there

Included in the final price so purchase of said game total = your game price and sales tax together

 

WWhen you look at a game you see the listing price

However when you click purchase rhis for example let's say 39.95

It shows you the total with taxes for example my area is 13%

Then the next one is buy to.aggree to purchase at that price so at 42.90 something

You would only see the 42.90

Taxes are never listed separately since you only pay the total

it's safe to say that the Xbox Insider/Preview program will not cause any additional taxes to be added, I highly doubt this is the cause.

Taxes, their percentage and the way how they are shown can be based on the Country or even State your account is connected too. For some prices are shown without tax, but will be calculated when purchasing items for others the taxes are already inside the
price being shown.

Since it's different per country/region the best thing to do is to check to which country/state your account is connected and what and how taxes are applied
