Xbox home & signing in

Hi all

My son has his own xbox in his room which I have set to the Home Xbox - idea being he can play my games. I have my account on his xbox but if he tries to play my games, it says "the person who owns the game needs to sign in". So then he has to have my account signed in. He then switches back to his so he has his own save data.

Downside is if I turn my xbox on, it tells me I am logged in elsewhere. So I can't play mine whilst he is on his.

I thought the point of the home xbox is so he can play my games without being signed in to me.

Help/advice appreciated? Do I need to do something else? I feel I'm missing a step somewhere.

It is supposed to work exactly how you have explained it, so something didn't go right.

Just one question, when you say you set it as your home Xbox, was this set using your account?

Hello G33kGamer, by your description you are doing correctly, your account should be as primary in your child's console, and your child's account should be as the primary on your console.

If his acount is signed in on your xbox and you go to the personalization page in settings and go to home xbox and it says to make this my home xbox that means your xbox is not his profiles home xbox and that would mean his account was signed in on another
xbox and that xbox was made his home profiles home xbox.

Once My Home Xbox has been set up correctly neither of you will need to be signed in on the the Home Xbox, meaning you can sign in on another Xbox whilst your friend is signed in on your Home Xbox, with their account and enjoy your games and features.

Game share. Sign Xbox A into Xbox B and make it the home xbox and sign xbox B into Xbox A and make it the home Xbox. Then sign out of both and sign A into A and B into B. And you games and live with be shared between both xboxs. And you can freely sign
in an out to which ever you want.
